Ouifuf, 22 Nov 2024Americans making bad decisions, who's surprised Nah, we just have higher incomes on average and the iPhone planted it's flag here very early on in the smartphone wars. This was the time when Blackberry reigned supreme and all Windows Mobile/Android phones still used resistive screens with those crappy pre-Snapdragon QC chips. The OG iPhone was much faster than it's contemporaries, actually had a capacity screen and that loyalty carried over to the next generation. People know exactly what they're getting with an iPhone, but the same cannot be said for various flavors of Android you get with each manufacturer.

No normal people will get stuck comparing frame by frame of samples, that's not how life works.
iPhone's overall experience with Video Recording is more mature and reliable, that's why they are the reference. I'm not saying that Samsung Ultras and Xiaomi Ultras can't record stuff on the same level, but it's not their selling point.
But OK. It's great to know that some frames of a video recorded by Realme 6 are better than some frames of video recorded by iPhone, I think people will stop buying iPhones and start buying Realmeme 6

Have you ever made the effort to compare video quality sample frames back when the photo/video compare tool was still maintained? Have you seen how iphone 12, 13.. samples looked way worse as soon as the light gets dark, compared to a cheap realme 6 pro? Hilarious! It's just something people repeat all over again because it was maybe true compared to some droid flagship years ago.. While not realizing they're just applying the same overdone microcontrast sharpening effect as in photos aswell. No real detail.

Iz doesn't even have splitscreen, a feature I use very often on android. I use better bt audio codecs. I need an app audio mixer. I want to install an app from wherever I want. I prefer micro-sd and managing files on my own to a monthly cloud/computer of someone else-fee. I want the possibility to use 3.5mm or ir-blaster or fingerprint reader instead of face unlock. I prefer to have a more versatile camera than digitally zoom between 1x and 5x. I could go on and on, it's all power user stuff, but that's a real tool for me. It's the whole philosophy in putting users in a cage, for the only sake of profit, which makes apple and their phones so unappealing to me.

iPhones are great, I'm so glad they exist. I still prefer my Z Flip but some thing are simply better on the iPhone, like the Journal app and Video Recording.
We need to remember that inside this tech-savvy bubble people will always prefer Android because it's the enthusiast choice, but the variants are different out there. Even more if you consider places like Brazil (where I live) where we don't have access to Oppo, Honor or Vivo flagships, so you're almost always stuck to Samsung or Apple

Nascent technologies and product categories often experience frequent innovative leaps as they develop towards maturity.
Once that state of maturity is achieved and working designs / features sets have been established, those innovative leaps become less frequent as iteration on what works becomes the norm. The smartphone industry isn’t the first to experience this pattern, it won’t be the last.

DaFink, 22 Nov 2024Er….what? 🤔The statement about innovation is not correct and it's very much scalable and quantifiable so delivering innovation on a consistent basis is not atheist. In simple words a company with that kind of asset can always afford to innovate on regular basis and deliver year over year, this year the innovation scope was substantial as the device has 2OSs.

For anyone outside of the US wondering what the 48% of phones other than iPhones are, they are Obamaphones, federally funded free phones given to anyone on government assistance. Samsung flasgships might be ~5% of the market and that is the only other flagship besides an iPhone you will see people using.
