Anonymous, 23 Dec 2024I really hope they would just make a mid-range phone with t... moreI can forgive 8MP UW sensor but 2MP macro is the worse out there, just because they wanted to put the "maximum" sensor count on a phone then decide to slap a macro unit for zooming some bacteria on leaves or whatever it supposed to be. Midrange segment getting almost the same hardware each year with new SoC as exception, the upgrade is minimal since its quite a mess when budget flagship also exist and price almost as near as a premium midrange.

Hemedans, 23 Dec 2024D8400 IS more efficient than 8 gen 3 at low power and lose ... moreD9400 comes with the latest fabrication hence 3nm node, so that improves the low power efficiency compare to 4nm chips. As you mention just now 25% improvement is quite doubtful since its more to the nodes difference in this area, A725 is almost just a refresh of A720 as of now.

Anonymous, 23 Dec 2024How many nanometers is it? Gosh why it doesn't say how... morelmao the fabrication process doesn't necessarily means to explain how big the chipset size is. besides, no part of the chip are actually 6 nanometers, it's just a marketing gimmick. and also, there is no TSMC N5 four years ago if it what was you're trying to imply with 5 nanometers process.
there's a lot of inaccuracies in your comment. calm down.

antykat, 23 Dec 2024All Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco phones are very bad for taking photos... morePoco/Redmi camera hardware isn't good...that's a choice to keep the price low (like USB2.0, plastic frame or lack of wireless charging)
Using a 1/2.0" main cam and a 1/4" ultrawide.
Xiaomi's camera aren't that bad, partnership with Leica provide quite good results. Telephoto are far better compared to what Apple is able to provide for exemple...

How many nanometers is it? Gosh why it doesn't say how large the chipset is. Is it 6 nanometers in size yes?
That's so yesteryear! And they want to sell this as new? Come on stop joking around.
Huawei sold a mate in 2020 and it used 5 nanometers in chipset size. That was 4 years ago.
The chips are supposed to become smaller with time not larger...

Another chapter opened. Techically, this CPU can record 3D Videos with 4K. They only need to locate on phone, 2 x Exact Same Back Camera's, to record Stereographic Photos or Videos.

Quite an interesting move by Mediatek, using the same core for all 8 cores.
Firstly, I am pleasantly surprised that A5XX cores have been shown the door. Apart from providing slightly higher standby times, they had no utility. For a major part of their thermal envelope, A5XX cores are in fact less efficient than A7XX cores.
Secondly, I wonder if there was room for adding an actual performance core (say X4). That could have made this processor quite capable and well-rounded chipset.

RIP small cores, it shows how is failing ARM so hard in that matter since everyone are leaving it behind. Qualcomm with the new Oryon cores, Mediatek with this and well.. even Huawei went custom Out of Order small core, which defeats soundly the In order core ARM has.
ARM should start to bury the small core or rework it.

9300 already had no A5x cores. So the only difference here is 8400 is just all A7x as opposed to 9300 having 4 X cores and 4 A7x.
