This might finally dethrone the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.

    No correction but this is really odd in a good way

    The 8400 is or will be ranked WELL above the 8S Gen 3 which is two place above & the 7S Gen 3 one place above the Dimensity 8300

    is this a variation on a tweaked Dimensity 9200 just using only A725? https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/mediatek-dimensity-9200-vs-mediatek-dimensity-8300

    if that wasn't enough the 8400 3.25Ghz matches that of the Dimensity 9300

    I can see Mediatek "revamping" the 9200, 9300 is a stretch for a non flagship SoC

Back in the day Xiaomi also made the Mi Note 10 with a mid-range SoC, which was one of the best camera phones of that year. Another brand that does the same is the Vivo V series.

That'd be killer value

            Not a fan. App (behance, Gcam etc) optimisation problems with my last 2 MediaTek Dimensity phones (Motorola & Oppo).

                I just want this chip set on tablets as well. Yes I know midrange tablets are getting better processors but I would like to see upper midrange chipsets more widely adopted.

                          D8400 achieve 4500 geekbench score using around 3W only that's impressive and if they limit it there it's going to give even current flagship competition, but from there it regress, to reach 7000 geekbench score it needs like 10W.

                              I really hope they would just make a mid-range phone with these lower tier SoCs, but flagship level in everything else. In reality, they only release the opposite type of devices. Its either the entire phone is straight up downgraded in every aspect (A55, redmi note), or they sacrifice something for good SoC at cheap price (poco, realme, iqoo, etc). After that it just jumps to expensive flagship. I would much rather have a mid-range SoC than these lazy phones with worse display, worse camera (8mp ultrawide), missing sensors, usb 2.0, no reverse wireless charging...

It's still lose to D9400 at low power, but that it's more of 3nm vs 4nm issue.

                                      Anonymous, 23 Dec 2024Mediatek does some unconventional CPU configurations in its... moreA5xx are irrelevant because of Arm themselves they mess up, untill today still A55 use less power than A720 or A725, so small core has its uses its just Arm don't bother to design them. A55 manufactured in 3nm probably would create records in battery life.
