It's intentional to push consumers to either stick with the SE, or skip the 15 and just buy the 16. More money for Apple, the genius in upselling.

And those designs were the basis for some of Apples top sellers. The mini range by contrast weren’t exactly up there in overall iPhone popularity, so Apple it seems didn’t want to go down that route…..

The only redeeming quality would be in Video recording and raw performance

                          Would be great but don’t think it will happen. Current iPhone 14 is $599. could see them keep that price and argue that you get a much better chip with Apple intelligence, usb c and action button as well as a better main camera with 2x capability (so still 2x zoom range, just 1x and 2x instead of 0.5x and 1x) for the same price. At best $549 because the SE 2 got that price drop as well compared to iPhone 8.

                          Or: it still starts at 64GB for $499, so it’s the very good value base model that is crippled by this spec (like 8 GB RAM MacBooks up until recently, or 128 GB storage MacBooks in the middle of last decade, or 256 GB storage Mac mini right now) and that one is forced to buy the next tier up 128GB for $549-599. And the 64GB just exists so they can say „iPhone lineup starts from $499“

                            Meh budget iPhones are always trash
                            The 5c was an abomination. The mini fumbled hard and the SE always came with the ancient iPhone 6 design and specs
                            Hell even the base iPhone is unappealing with massive thick bezels and 60 hz
                            I imagine the SE4 is gonna be an iPhone 13 but with a newer chipset

                              SE's are not just less feature rich, they're also truly compact. The Mini chassis would have given that.

I even have favourited iPhones, and I'd love to have a purple 14 Pro Max, even made a positive comment on that just recently, plus my favourite charging connector is the lightning, shame it was stuck only at 2.0 speeds, but still. I simply dislike their overpriced and overpowered SE series, with small batteries and lot of missing features.

                                  I would think it as a suitable backup phone for some people that owned high end android phone while having small compact iOS device. Could potentially attractive those target audience

                                    At least 600€ in Europe. Why not when Europe produces nothing, which is very sad.
