The team here may not have noticed them or may have chosen not to mention them. Like I said if you don't use the Xiaomi apks and click on links in them you probably won't notice them but as demonstrated on that video they are there

vik457, 02 Jan 2025I didn't have ads on my 12t pro eitherSimilar case to my friends' 12T and 14T, and my brothers' 12 (two brothers, both have Xiaomi 12). These 4 devices I have known didn't show any ads, and they said they didn't adjust anything. All were running the OS in Indonesian version. I'm not sure what are the differences between Indonesian and Global variant.

1. It's got a global charger. The Chinese charger has a different plug.
2. The sticker on the back has a CE mark which is a safety requirement for the EEA (European Economic Area). This is not on Chinese models (different safety standard on Chinese models. A number 10 with arrows surrounding it would be present on the Chineses model). Also the sticker is in English. The official sticker on the back of Chinese models with the IMEI info will be in Chinese

To be fair, I had a very good price upon launch (820 for 512 Gb version and Buds 2 Pro for free) back when Samsung was generous and not charging 1200 for a base version of an Ultra in 128Gb 🤡
I'm exagerating a bit, I know but I like to troll them too, they deserve it considering how they are making S25 from S22 camera and then saying that and older tablet can't run newer android.
Shame, shame, shame.

The bloatware might be less on the Xiaomi models vs Redmi/Poco (which are so ridiculous that by default, they are unusable imo), but if you’re not careful in fine tuning your phone settings, you would be faced with ads sooner or later. And that is unacceptable at these premium prices.
Worse, Xiaomi stock apps tend to reset their setting or even take over user preferences when they’re updated or when there’s an OS update, forcing you to redo your fine tuning to eliminate those ads. It’s highly annoying when you just want to use your phone. Considering the premium price, one might as well get a Samsung than having to deal with Xiaomi, no matter how great the hardware spec is.

Heck, I recommend Xiaomi phones to those who want to use custom ROM. HOWEVER, that segment is quite niche. Majority of consumers don’t want (even if they could) want to be bothered with tinkering their tools, especially at premium prices. These are, in the end, tools. People just want to use their phones. This is why in the premium segment, Apple and Samsung are holding the majority of market share.
It’s like PC gamer vs console. PC gamers will scream all out that they are the master race, but consoles are still selling well because majority of people don’t want to be bothered tinkering with stuff. They just want to play their games.

This was the global model so at least his global Xiaomi 14 ultra had ads.

Aierlan, 02 Jan 2025It's very tricky to disable fully the ads on Chinese v... moreI'm a Redmi K70E user, so maybe I'm eligible to make comment on this matter. I agree that Xiaomi/Redmi phone has built-in ads but also there's an option to disable them system wide or individual system apps has the ad disable option. When I bought my first phone I firstly disabled every ads possible. To add a layer to it, I use ad guard DNS to prevent getting any ads from any apps and it works flawlessly. Even without the DNS I didn't notice any system app showing me ads after disabling ads button. So my suggestion would be, no matter what model you use from any brand you can use the private DNS i.e. Adguard DNS from getting any ads. Even free apps that shows ads will block it too and I'm loving it. Thank you.

I turned off ads in the settings and I still get ads, especially for Xiaomi phones in the system apks. There are videos in Chinese on social media platforms like bilibili showing how to do it but there are about 17 steps to follow to completely get rid of them and you probably need to understand Chinese to follow it. I have no idea about global versions though. I think ads are region dependent to a certain extent so it's hard to generalise. Almost all the Chinese brands in China have quite a lot of ads in the system though except Nubia and Motorola (depending on whether you consider them a Chinese brand). It also depends on whether people use the Xiaomi apks or not as most of the ads are in those so even if you get a Chinese model but don't use the Xiaomi apps e.g. weather, app store, web browser, video player, music player, Xiaomi wallet etc. then you probably won't notice them. The ones in the Xiaomi

Anonymous, 02 Jan 2025The vanilla X200 and Find X8 are bigger than the vanilla Xi... moreWhat would be amazing about it? The Vivo x200 pro mini has already done this. They have fitted a 1/1.95" periscope sensor into the x200 pro mini, and the main sensor is a tiny bit larger also. Also has a 6.31" and a larger 5,700mAh battery than the Xiaomi 15 and is even slightly lighter. So Vivo has already done this with a 300mAh larger battery to boot. Even Vivo is not using the more modern type of periscope that takes up less space that Oppo/Realme/Oneplus are using and they still can do it with a traditional periscope and give a bigger battery than the Xiaomi 15. It's not a space issue at all, but rather a cost and marketing choice. They have to distinguish the Xiaomi 15 pro a bit from the regular Xiaomi 15.

The vanilla X200 and Find X8 are bigger than the vanilla Xiaomi so it's not surprising they have space for a periscope lens. It would be amazing if Xiaomi can engineer a periscope lens into a 6.3 inch frame without affecting battery life.
