Vegetaholic, 03 Feb 2025Which part you live that you pay 1000 for One plus 12? in U... moreI am from South Asia and for some reason, Oneplus started charging $1050 for flagship phones. S24u was $1150 so it was a no brainer to go with Samsung.
Agreed, most Chinese phones offer a much better value for flagship by pricing it lower than IPhone/Samsung. If Oneplus was available for upto 800 dollars, I would have still gone with Oneplus (maybe). Plus they had a wierd policy. Oneplus 12 wasn't displayed in experience center and you had to buy one just to experience it.
I did manage to borrow a shop keeper's OP12 for testing, but price wise I felt S24u offered better value with S-Pen and DEX.

Best selling or trending or popular don't make any sense. The best one is whatever you like.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2025Brand perception changes. Samsung wasn't always seen a... moreAgree to this, definitely.
I was a long time Nokia and Windows phone fan, and used Lumia 930 till 2017. I absolutely didn't like Samsung and vowed not to ever use it. They changed their brand image over 2010s. When I finally used a Samsung device, it worked the way it should. Never got any issues - both hardware and software wise.
Oneplus gave me green line and bugs after software updates. Once a brand fails you, you wouldn't wanna try it again with something that costs $1050.
One thing I have noticed with my group is that most Samsung users with flagship phone had amazing experience with A 7 and FE series, so they naturally switched to S series. With Oppo, Xiaomi and even Oneplus users, they would stick to these brands as long as it's midrange.

The reasons iPhone is always best selling phone-
1. iOS (os unique to iPhones)
2. Resale value (iPhones hold their value for much longer)
3. Inferiority complex (peer pressure and fomo also play part in it)
4. A very small portion of people are really idiot who are blind devotee of brand (who thinks other phones don't have same features as iPhones)

jiyen235, 03 Feb 2025least obvious samsung planthow am I a plant 🤣😂😂
We are a small group of people who fancy latest tech. But majority of people don't want every latest tech as long as it's working fine.
That being said Samsung is no longer what it used to be. They have gotten lazy and Apple like since Covid.

TrainingAddict, 03 Feb 2025Chinese American or Korean what does it matter?
It's ... moreBrand matters because I got green line with Oneplus and often had bugs after update. With my previous Samsung, I had absolutely no issue. Then there's resale value to be considered.
I literally said I would have liked to have faster charging. As for battery tech, of course why wouldn't I like newer technology. But I am getting 9 hrs + SOT. OP12 with newer technology has similar battery life so I don't really see it being a huge devising factor, just yet.
Leaving software to user isn't my preferred way. I can see why one would prefer that. May be I would prefer it for a midrange phone but for flagship, I prefer to have w polished OS.

DarlingYext, 03 Feb 2025"I was about to buy Oneplus 12 but then spending 1000+... moreAs I mentioned, it's mainly because of resale value. People don't buy oneplus in second hand market here so you lose upto 50-60% value in the very first year. I had both oneplus and Samsung in past - had never had a single issue with Samsung while Oneplus did have bugs es after updates. I got a green line issue with Oneplus before.
As for software, OG Oxygen OS was best. One UI currently suite me for my use case. Plus you get Samsung DEX, S-Pen, secure folder and Goodlock. Not implying that Chinese brands aren't worth for 1000+, but with almost similar price, it didn't make sense to choose Oneplus.

What repu... moreHave you been living under a rock bro? Samsung was a well known white goods (DVD players, washing machines etc) long before they started making smartphones. Apple was somewhat less well known although you'd still be hard pressed to find someone who hadn't heard of apple computers.
Whether you love or hate apple/Samsung it's pretty hard to ignore their existence and they clearly know how to appeal to their customers even if their products have inferior specs to other brands.

The fact that both 4G and 5G version of Galaxy A15 outsold the Galaxy S24 Ultra shows how much average consumers don't care about hype and only care about still-relevant features like the 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card slot, and offline FM Radio support.

Edward Coventry, 03 Feb 2025Yet again a compact phone is global best sellerIncorrect. More like a cheaper iPhone is the best seller.
Do note the 16 Pro Max that was only released a few months back is the second best seller.

Interesting observations:
- iPhone 16 Pro Max, a $1200 phone released just in September 2024, managed to be number 2.
- iPhone 13, a phone released in 2021, managed to still be in the top 10.
- the S24 Ultra, a $1300 phone, managed to be number 9, an big achievement for Android
- the list is basically just Apple and Samsung
No matter what the noise is in forums, people simply want to buy iPhones. They may start with an affordable Android, but once they can afford one, they will buy an iPhone. The only thing that is preventing Apple from overtaking the whole market is their own greed.

My point was that IOS is operation system only for Apple devices and they dont have any competition with other brands who can use IOS cause there is none.
While other brands have a deep competition cause all use Android as their base operation system Difference is in hardware and features they have locked or unlocked and what skins they have while Android supports all 6 plus different cpu chips brands.

They all depend on Google to update the Android. Play store is just a app store and it does not matter cause the apps in there are same in every app store app.
If you download a game from what ever app store from your phone you will still get the same game app. It's like it does not mater what is a shop name where you buy milk that have the same package

See how much sense this logic makes? None whatsoever.
"Wattage only equates to MINUTES of differences in charging."
Minutes? Oh, really? How many of those minutes? 10 mintes and 60 minutes can also just be called "minutes"
A 120W-180W could charge a phone in under 30 minutes, that's more than twice as fast than what Samsung can offer, IT IS SIMPLY BETTER, you can try to deny it but it will still be better.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2025Are these people st*pid? Why didn’t they buy a vivo or Xiao... moreMost people don't need a battery that big, and most people wouldn't even notice a change in the battery size, you just obsess over it because it's posted in the specs. Same for charging, most people just charge their phones when they sleep. Look at the charging speed graphs, the Xiaomi 14T and S24+, one has a 67W fastcharger and the other has 45W omgitssoslow charger, yet on the charge tests that difference in Wattage only equates to MINUTES of differences in charging. It's really easy to obsess over specs on this site, like with phone size, people complain about 6.7' phones, and want >6.5' yet the difference in size between the two is just a couple millimeters.
People want reliability and a brand they can depend on; it's why consumers will spend a little extra to buy appliances from LG/Panasonic/Mayfare and not Chinese brands like TCL, even though the TCL brand is cheaper everyone knows there will be compromises when it comes to reliability and dependability
