"That's arguably as high-end as you can go in terms of cameras at this point in time" -- The ultra wide sensor is substantially inferior to similar offerings from both the Vivo X100 Ultra & Oppo Find X-7 Ultra... Considering the fact that Xiaomi was using a slightly bigger sensor on the previous two iterations of its Ultra series - and still never managed to produce particularly good image quality... This current version of the UW seems a bleak prospect.

    In 2023 S23 Ultra's cameras cost was 65 dollars or 14% of $469 BOM.

    Anyone who think that "high-end" camera setup somehow costs more than $100 and therefore warrants >$1000 price is completely brainwashed by marketing.

                              The optical zoom must be higher. Something like 7x which the xperia has. And charging speed should be 120w to accomodate with the battery improvement. And xiaomi needs to work on software. They've done impressive work but aren't quite there yet

                                      3.X from xiaomi has digital crop on auto mode.
                                      Those Honor with 180 mp are crop from 200.

                                      For example a 100mm native cropped to 130mm is cheaper than native 130mm lens. This happens far more often than you think.

                                      Suspect every time you see lens beyond 70mm that is not periscope with sensor larger than 1/3.2" ..

                                        You have same thing .. Frames with different exoosure levels.
                                        Difference is regular frame stacking you choose how many frames.
