MediaTek's new Dimensity 6400 brings a small upgrade over the 6300 from last year

The basic design is much older than that, however.

vik457, 17 Feb 2025What do you mean? I do hope t760-t820 gets used more instea... moreI'm assuming that Mediatek don't want to push forward with Dimensity 6xxx line due costs, which might drop their sales.

Several things in that specific family of Mediatek SoC are just a single step away to cross the threshold of becoming bad for their segment.

And as you said, Unisoc has more interesting solutions for 5G entry chipsets. Those two you mention for example are good and even brings 4k video recording to the budget segment, however, even if T760 has some questionable specs, it still performs in the same level of D6300.

T820 should be the minimum Mediatek should aim to do, but they insist copying D810 and G90 to exhaustion. At this rate, Qualcomm will eat Mediatek for lunch with their upcoming chipsets.

Disappointing honestly. At least Qualcomm is bringing more recent cores to their low end stuff, but A76 cores in 2025 is nuts. That's almost a 7 year old core design.

I wonder if Mediatek is afraid of putting out a decent entry 5G chipset because of the prices of some components. Calling it a new chipset is ridiculous. Its just a "D6300+".

They could've at least upgraded the GPU from Mali-G57 MC2 to MC4 one. Or y'know what? name it 6300+ instead.

Intel is still cleaning up their 13 and 13.5 mess, while at the same time cleaning up the software and/or firmware bugs in their 200 series.

Intel is just too busy to respond to Qualcomm right now, but I will not deny the benefits and drawbacks of both CISC and RISC chips.

One is punching-up their weight class and the other just responding on punching-down their weight class.
