17 February 2025
The 5G model gets less, intriguingly.

Emma , 25 Feb 20254 year's android update and 6 year's security pat... moreFor 4G phone! They (Xiaomi )are sure you buy 5G phone far before that support period ends. It is just a promise. Like if you promise today you will give updates for Windows 7 for six more years when you can't even install Firefox on it. Same will happen with this phone.

4 os updates is a lot of updates
Later android versions are resources heavy
It does bring up the question will the soc
Still be able run the os smoothly?

Like aluminum frame for example over A16 plastic frame.
14 4G have 3.5mm jack, 1mm shorter and same on the with measure.
5500mAh battery with 33W charger over 5000mAh and 25W charger
Screen 120hz over 90hz and that selfie camera is a dot over A16 teardrop
Also Note 14 is starting with 6/128GB while A16 starts with 4/128GB RAM/Storage
The Helio G99 is on both and it's around 400k in Antutu v10 so after 4th OS updates it be about time to switch to something new in a range of 800k to 1.1m range to last another 3-4 years.

That A16 isn't cheaper or that much and that 2-3 extra OS update isn't a lot worth it when the phone even now is the bottom in performance. After 3-4 OS update on Helio G99 that is 3-4 years from now would be slow as heck anyways. You get Xiaomi phone with SD 7s gen 2 already at 240 euro that will be worth it to get and it wont be that slow on 3-4 years to use. I can't imagine to use the lowest end for 6 years as i already went trough it with 5 years used that type of experience to have the bottom side performance on a phone

I can live with only two major updates. It's ok for my kind of usage and as I change devices very often (yes I sell them to someone else and buy new ones with that money) I rarely have a device for more than one year so no big deal. On the other hand it's a missed opportunity for Xiaomi on this one, especially as the 5G one is more expensive than the 4G unit. Maybe it's hardware limitations related? Don't know.

Used a couple of Redmis in the past. Only got one major update and a couple of security updates each so this I consider as an improvement. Hardware wise they're reliable. I still have a Redmi 9T with me. Now using it as an all day hotspot.

Surprisingly, the 9T got a 700MB update a month ago.

About redmi note 14 pro 5g. How much android updates this phone can be supported ?

justasmile, 18 Feb 2025That's a difficult promise at that.As an ex Xiaomi user. They usually deliver their promise even expand their MIUI updates for several popular devices, the reason redmi more expensive than poco because of better software support and warranty
