Why give update?
People changes their phones within months.
These updates are unnecessary.

Belsa, 17 Feb 2025I honestly wouldn't recommend Xiaomi products, they ar... moreWhy your friend didnt ask for a replacement since the Buds 4 Pro is defective out of the box? I had the issue of one side battery draining faster with Buds 4 Active I ordered online and I brought them to a service center and got a new set after the staff proven it's a manufacturing defect.
And regarding your Note 10 Pro, I am sure Samsung phones suffered more from motherboard issues just from the sheer volume of Samsung phones sold compared to Redmi. Samsung phones with Exynos 9611 are notorious for motherboard issues and it happened to my mother in law's A51. Even the newer A33 and A53 are not immune to the issue.

Lo and behold, xiaomi gave the 3 OS updates and the 11T series are still functioning well after each update.

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2025Who cares, these phones are hot garbage anyway. Unfortunate... morePoco software ain't perfect but nothing comes close to them in price to performance ratio.
Dimensity 8400U of X7 Pro is going up against against Galaxy A55 at $100+ or more in my region. Closest equivalent is the Galaxy A25. 😂 Now that doesn't include used Poco X6 Pro 2024 which gets even crazier since it was also leaked to get 4 OS upgrades till Android 18.
The other alternatives are SD7 G2/G3 devices which costs either more or less.
Or add a bit more for used S23 FE except those might also incur additional costs due to possibility or actual need for repairs (battery, screen replacements etc).
And let's not talk about overpriced used iphones at 84% BH which is an easy $100 added cost.

The decision to provide just the 4G variant with 50% more security update support is bizarre and annoying to me as a I just bought the Note 14 5G.
Xiaomi has* a "Product Software Support Information" official page at "trust-mi-com/misrc/updates/detail?tab=phone" (replace - with .) where if you search for "note 14" you get results saying the 4G will have 6 years of security update support but Pro, Pro 5G, and Pro+ 5G models will have just 4 years. The Note 14 5G is not mentioned there yet.
Here's a summary of what the page returns right now when searching for "note 14":
|Name |Launch date |Security Update EOL Date
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
|Note 14 Pro 5G |2025-01-10 |2029-01-30
|Note 14 |2025-01-10 |2031-03-01
|Note 14 Pro+ 5G |2025-01-15 |2029-01-01
|Note 14 Pro |2025-01-15 |2029-01-15
* Congratulations Xiaomi for being upfront and public about the length of support even though you have much to improve (your tech specs are always incomplete; what charging protocols are supported by the Note 14 5G? Crickets! your English tech specs are detailed in FAQs and the search for FAQs works very very bad; to top it off, your English tech specs are badly machine translated from Chinese... ugh). Lenovo also publicly provides this kind of support info upfront, a bit better I would say, but few other manufacturers do, especially when it comes to lower end models which they love to be ambiguous about. You have to rely on 2nd hand info, like the one found in this article, but this kind of info is non-committal, unlike the one provided through official pages.

That's actually really nice. Price did go up on Xiaomi, but 4 major OS updates and 6 years of security updates, that's great.

[deleted post]In terms of specs for said price yes.
Cheapest samsung with 8GB ram and 256GB disk space is like 150-200 euros.
Cheapest same specced xiaomi is like 100 eur for example 14C or Poco C75.
