If Samsung go for aluminum, just to cut down the production cost, it will be big mistake. Only iFans get nirvana from the cheap sealed tin-can.
I'm sure Samsung will ignore this iMedia dirty tricks.
They should only give option for non-glossy battery cover (no matter that anyone can buy for less than $10 whatever battery cover even now)

Not a good move.. i have seen way too many scratched metal devices. Carbon fibre would be a good move on premium devices but manufacturing speed and cost might be an issue?

Metal or high quality polycarbonate or carbon fiber it doesn't really matter to me. I cover my phone with soft jacket anyway and most people do the same. As long as it has sd card extension and has relatively thin bezel i'll consider buying it, otherwise no thanks.

In all honesty who cares what the casing is made off? Majority of us all cover it with a protective cover so the casing is hidden anyhow.
It is still nice/attractive looking with metal, but it just adds weight.
We all want good size with less the weight! :-)

That's the problem with the galaxy series. You buy the latest model and after a few months, the new one comes out and makes yours obsolete. Also they lose value very quickly.

I would gladly sacrifice 2mm for say a 4000mAh battery in my galaxy s4. Thus allowing users to get easily 48hrs with pretty heavy usage. I think battery development is one area which is still a long way off the devices they are meant to power.

Think this is getting out of hand, all phones can break whether made of plastic or what some people call premium materials simple as that.
Back to the point a top end smartphone should feel premium but all the people I know who have metal bodied phones (iphone4s x2 iphone 5 nexus 4 htc onex and xperia z) have them in plastic cases to protect them so what's the point in making it pretty but fragile, make it out of something that is robust and flexible then the users will feel they can use them as the manufacturer intended.
But please please please stop making phones thinner with bigger screens, make it a bit thicker and give us a battery that lasts a day of heavy usage with the screen on Max brightness BT WiFi GPS on and can use all the features crammed into the modern smartphone, they're used as selling points but using those features drains the battery in less than half a day.

Now this is a good idea. Ditch plastic. Samsung, give us something premium for the premium price we pay, not glossy plastic which gets scratches easily, gets too much fingerprints, and feels bad in hand without a premium case.
