Just yesterday my friend dropped her S3 and screen fully shatered! and i see sammy fan boys talk crap about iphone, nokia, bb, sony ALL the time. and they call nokia's and iphone's materials cheap, and here you have samsung now saying they are considering metal!
now all the samsung fanboys disappear!
and whether i've seen the back cracked or not has nothing to do with it. If that was the case, samsung should make the back out of paper.. when you drop that, it wont crack or break either... that doesn't mean the phone doesn't still look like crap and feel like plastic model display piece of junk!!!

Metal, while does feel premium, they usually use aluminium, which is very soft and if you drop it on the ground, you'll have horrible dents. Scratches, once they dig through ion platting also look bad.
Personally i prefer solid plastic which is of the same color even when dented or scratched. Or thin stainless steel. Slightly heavier, but feels really premium, is dent resistant and if scratched, it's just that, scratched, but still silver color. I know some Nokia phones used it in the past and it felt really nice...

If you said s3 is ugly i will accept....but s4 looks nice if not sexy ....when flexible displays comes to action...samsung's plastic is best material to go....ever saw broken back in samsung phones no...it was glass which use to break ...not plastic back.....

they probably use the cheapest feeling and looking plastic in the industry..
its actually really sad. and not to mention, they also have the ugliest phones in the industry.
they could learn a hand full of things from the designers of motorola, sony and even HTC... heck, Huawei has better designs than sammy.

The manufacturer is the one that made the decision, not the "lovers" as you call them.
And I highly doubt they made that decision because they saw the "light"...most likely they saw additional income from "premium/metal lovers".

i'm sure samsung will came up with difference kind of materials other than regular metal used with other brand, samsung always make phone for everyone...so, sit and wait for now :)

Carbon fiber is best choice....
don't trade removable battery for premium materials...removable battery is must...

NOOOO! metal dents & scratches like crazy..and its heavy unless you take aluminium-which is the softest one! whenever i had metal parts on my phone, they looked 2 years older than the rest of the phone.

I have a samsung Galaxy S2. Plastic panels are pretty good and give the Galaxy S devices their character. No creaks, issues 2 years after buying it. And pretty light weight.
I hope Sammy retains their lightweight plastic panels.
