Dantmv, 08 Mar 20257 and 8 will probably be mostly the same, the big jump was ... moreNo, Xiaomi MiUI (HyperOS) is just a skin, separate from Android version. That's why you have Xiaomi phones/tablets being updated to a newer version of MiUI/HyperOS while remaining on older Android version.

Take the Mi Pad 6. It won't get Android 15. It will only get HyperOS2 but on Android 14.

          It sure does, but so do phones on Android 12, and even ones with Android 8. So that basically means OS updates are useless, if we think like this. Oh, but when brands say they will "only" update their phones for 4 years, when Samsung promises 7 years then suddenly OS updates are the most important for everyone and phones with less than 7 years of OS updates are called waste.

          Samsung's biggest advantage would be their OS updates, but it's becoming less of an advantage if those updates come slower than updates for every other brand.

                7 and 8 will probably be mostly the same, the big jump was from 6 to 7, so some phones will probably skip One UI 7.0.

                They could also do it like Xiaomi which had different Android versions for the same version of their UI.

                      Really Samsung, gatekeeping software & features to sell your latest devices. That's just sad. This is how you know that innovation has taken a back seat in this company. Large companies like this only listen when their bottom line gets affected, people need to stop buying Samsung for a while. Which will be admittedly hard when all of your data is tied to Samsung's software offerings. Which is why companies make Eco-systems to begin with, not to make the user experience better but rather to make it harder to switch to other brands when they eventually screw you over.

                        So people won't have to wait 6 months for the update, only 3 months? Being faster than what they are currently doing doesn't mean much, it could still be extra slow.
