They also had way smaller 60hz displays to power.

No phone back then was this thin, had a 6.6+ inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, a 200MP camera, 5G, the latest WiFi, or an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor... And those old 2016 phones had arround 3500mAh batteries with way less efficient and powerful processors.
Still, Samsung should've pushed for silicon batteries with this one.
Some of us want thin, light phones that don't look feel and look like from a decade ago bricks.

Just as any "slim" device (almost) out there, it's the next useless buzz. No matter what battery tech is used. In this case Samsung just wants to compete with mainly Apple, that other useless overpriced company that also hasn't launched their ultra-slim masterpiece of uselessness. As it was already attempted (and failed to certain extend) in the past, this buzz will fade away as well. Why? Instead of trying to really push technology, it's merely a question of sacrificing usable things so you could cram a bit of everything and nothing in a slim body. That's not pushing the boundaries, it's nothing more than a maths problem or an expensive puzzle. Sure, there will be many out there who will jump on it once it comes out but as it happen in the past, most of them will very quickly be disappointed about what they bought for a lot of cash.

Fire Smeller, 11 Mar 2025Samsung could have struck gold if they should have adopted ... moreThis. They could have used it as a battery development product for the new technology. But after the battery issues they experienced with the Note they'll understandably take a cautious approach.

Samsung could have struck gold if they should have adopted the new silicon carbon battery tech and fitted this device with a 5500mah battery.

Truly a phone from 2016, unnecessarily slim with small battery and slow charging.

Someone Else, 11 Mar 2025S25 = 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm = ~74,500 mm3 S25 Edge = 158.2... moreWhat's even worse is that this phone would notably bulge after 2-3 years or storage while sealed, so it may explode the phone due to its slimness.

MarkusLeto, 11 Mar 2025The problem with this supposedly groundbreaking device is i... moreDefinitely not Si/C. One thing to add is that this phone is taller than the super slim fad ODM phones from 2014-2015 (Vivo X Play series, Galaxy A 2015 series, Gionee etc) while having the same battery type (Li-Ion) so it makes sense why the battery capacity is totally barebones.

The problem with this supposedly groundbreaking device is it isn't exciting nor groundbreaking. It's serving Galaxy Fold 3. Is the battery even Si-C? Or they just reduced the size and capacity?

I think they are using this as a beta testing device to sort out the flaws and make s26 edge the proper device. They could also swap for a SiCa battery to claim significant improvement in battery life.
It's Samsung and they could certainly afford to do that.

Would have been the perfect phone for Samsung to introduce the Si/C battery...but now they are scared of doing any innovation. The chinese companies must be laughing hard.

Sammy, your neighbor already use SiC battery which can increase battery capacity even for small phone. Your competition is all android gangs not just apple, wake up moron. Lol

Someone Else, 11 Mar 2025S25 = 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm = ~74,500 mm3 S25 Edge = 158.2... moreHonestly I don't understand why they'd risk the bad press of poor battery life, especially when the 17 Air is rumored to have decent battery life. The device is clearly going to be selling in lower volumes anyways so you'd think they'd try to test out silicone carbide on the S25 Edge and kill two birds with one stone. Give the really thin phone good battery life AND test the benefits of silicon carbide and it's impact on logistics at the same time
