EU says port-less devices are okay, opening the door for Apple

Apple reportedly though of leaving out the USB-C port from the iPhone 17 Air, but didn't because it was worried that the European Commission wouldn't approve.

                  🤦🏽‍♂️ Android better not do this ish. I usually update my phone via flash image files...I definitely don't want this coming to Android.

They are literally using a feature phone, not a smartphone, why would you need an USB port?!

USB-C mandate was put in place to cut down on e-waste so that each phone doesn't need a different cable/charger. If you think it's EU's job to make phone makers add legacy features like USB ports, SD card slots, 3.5mm jacks and IR blaster then you are gravely confused. If you don't like such devices then vote with your wallet and stop blaming EU for everything.

                                        what's the point of portless device?

                                        wired charging is considerably faster, not to mention you can upload and download stuff from your pc/laptop.

                                        so apple can do whatever they want but it's up to us to vote with our wallet.
