Guess how much it costs over here? $3,300. To put it into perspective, that's only a $500 increase from the Mainland China RRP. For a first-gen product, that is impressive value. I'd expected it to be around the $5,000 mark, especially when that was how much you used to pay to Giztop beforehand. Press F to those who paid for Giztop markups.

If Apple installs macOS in it, then it'll be a completely different story. I doubt it'll cannibalize the MacBook sales since the MacBook can't have a stylus and touchscreen support unless it's a 2-in-1 convertible.

And yea, i understand your point but it all depends on how the person uses the phone i think. Some people can break even a Ulefone Armor whereas some might find it hard to break a foldable.
Besides, phones are manufactured planned obsolescence anyways, all tech is like that now. Nothing much to do about it, that's how it's gonna be and it's gonna get worse.

Except if you specifically need a thin & light device with 120Hz screen and back camera, there's almost no reason to not get the touchscreen Macbook instead.

This is the only foldable design worth buying. I want a small one the size of a Pixel 9 or iPhone 16 that folds out to be the size of an iPad Mini.

It's not made out of rare and exclusive materials as in watches and jewelry, after all.

If they manage to unlock the bootloader, wouldn't a One UI ROM make up for the lack of an option from Wingtech under the Samsung brand?

And oh yeah, speaking of iPad, iPadOS is also not that great (except on base iPad and iPad Mini, it's fine on those iPads). Just like Android in tablets, iPadOS is just a bigger version of iOS, with its limited app compatibility compared to MacOS (the only apps that run good on iPad is usually 1st party apps or sometimes those 3rd party apps that only release their apps exclusively on Apple products for some reason). That sounds worse when we realize that those iPad Air/Pro is powered by the (almost) same chipset as the one on Macbook Air/Mac Mini. I'm gonna buy the big iPad if only iPadOS could run Mac apps.

[deleted post]You don't need to spam those comments y'know.
But yeah that's also my reaction when Apple release their Vision Pro. And that one even worse because they're not the first one in this VR/AR market. So many companies has offer better products for cheaper.

They're definitely pushing boundaries here. While durability and pricewise it's not for me, products like this drive innovation and promote competition. But since it's the only one at the moment, competition still has to drive price down. No competition means they set the price.

For the €3500
I can buy a 13" ultrabook for €1500
A phone for €900
A quality compact tablet for €600 like a legion or iPad Mini
And still have €500 left to buy a mocha at the coffeeshop around the corner for a year.

It’s a gimmick. Even the Chinese themselves ridiculed it. Only western YouTubers (and forum goers who won’t ever buy it) went gaga over it, pretending to be smart.

I don't like to use my daily phone over a plastic screen; it's not premium. I still like the idea of a normal fold when there is a glass screen (of course, it likes to be too wide screen).

It's a cool concept but I don't see it being commercially viable.
1. The price alone makes it strictly an upper class object.
2. Even if it was cheap, it's an Android tablet at the end of the day. We all saw what happened to that market. Android is not serious about tablets and routinely kills off "legacy" apps for "compatibility reasons" at both the store and OS level. It's a platform that does not care about what gets built for it.
3. Because of the above, it's a bad value. Just buy a separate laptop if you want a larger screen. You'll have more and better programs available for it.
4. How often would one need to fully expand their phone screen? I can see it for the middle screen size, but not for the fully extended screen size. I don't see consumers actually taking advantage of what this brings to the table, and not because they are lazy this time, but because the use case is niche. When are you gonna use it? If anything, go in reverse. Make it a foldable with a "big" mini cover screen.

Over hyped piece of junk. People are so tired of apple and Samsung backwardness they'll take just about anything any other brand throws at them. I don't see how a phone should cost 3000 dollars and it doesn't fly to me, print me money, give me something nothing else does or a new function and it's supposed to be a thing. RAM same like others, storage same, what's new ? Many screens you can't even use all at once ? Parts that will be hard to repair when it breaks down and an operating system with less integration ? Jokes
