paco2x, 03 Sep 2013People love too much escape goats, their Two Minutes Hate..... moreYou are 100% right. I owned a lot of Nokia's including the 6120 and N82. I left Nokia for Apple because they refused to go away from physical keyboards and release larger screens. When they finally did the phones were average at best.
This is a perfect example on why you need to keep up with the competition. I left apple for Samsung because their ios hasn't kept up either.

Nokia Board or whoever who could have done a damn about it all are to be blamed. They let this show happen for three straight years and put Nokia in such a dire spot.

It is only Microsoft that benefited from this partnership and not Nokia. It's like Microsoft purposely destroyed Nokia for its own gain and I can't believe Nokia allowed it to happen. There were so many viable alternatives that could have worked in their favor but they continued with this up to the point that it left them with nothing. How does it feel Nokia that unknown Asian mobile phone companies like Cherry Mobile, Micromax, Starmobile and a couple others are thriving in the smartphone business and gaining profit while you the one who started it all, who is better than all of them have just been bought out for just 7 billion dollars and will never be able to manufacture smartphones ever again? This is stupidity at its best.

People love too much escape goats, their Two Minutes Hate... Nokia was in serious decline before Elop, their response to the first iPhone and the HTC G1 at best was slow. I don't get all the blame to Elop for the sale of the Nokia hardware and services divisions since the loses of those divisions started way before MS alliance.
Nokia slow response to Apple and Google was noted in 2008, two years before Elop took office. I do know that Elop shares some responsibility about Nokia decline, but it's unfair to blame him to the whole situation.

Nokia used to be good, but they are terrible now and even with their recent windows phone success they are lucky to get $7.2bn.
I personally would have offered much less!

TOO CHEAPLY? YOU ARE CRAZY
I think Microsoft have paid TOO MUCH for Nokia considering its market share at present. Nokia isnt worth anything these days and this is evident as shares for Nokia jumped 40% showing that Nokia was going downhill and even the shareholders were aware of this.
I would have paid around $2bn max!
MICROSOFT GOT RIPPED OFF.. DUMB DEAL IF YOU ASK ME.

would you still hate phones from microsoft even if they retained the brand name NOKIA?? there is an option where microsoft will choose to use the brand forever in exchange of some services or discontinue it by declining the deal.

This is the darkest day for any mobile enthusiasts. We have lost the king, the most innovative company ever. As a Nokia fan, i will never ever buy any Microsoft phone/tablet/phablet ever no matter with how good it is. I supported and defended Windows phone 8 OS just because of Nokia even after knowing that it is a crap OS and offers nothing. RIP, Nokia.. Stephen Elop executed his plans like a pro. I hate that guy. There's no point in defending Windows phones anymore.. I'll switch to Jolla too.

AnonD-78634, 03 Sep 2013from last many years i was very loyal to nokia and owned ma... moreI agree with each of your words, I stick to WP only because of Nokia but now this. I would consider all other options now. It is as if Nokia's board was sleeping all along, even now, they can wake up and block this deal.
