AnonD-131131, 03 Sep 2013Tale Of OS & manufacturers The developing battle lines... moreWEB o/s was a good software platform waiting for good hardware,,Nokia had decent hardware and looking for decent software,,imagine when Elop did the burning platform speech if these 2 merged instead of Microsoft. That could sound wrong as Elop was from Microsoft but Nokia did have choices back then..

Well Nokia: done is done, better late then never,
you have your name with you and large no of fans, You should have got to know what you should be getting after dealing with Microsoft atleast now better late then never,
Start from scratch, go ahead and work on new handset with Android OS, Firefox OS and Ubunto OS and launch with all efforts you can, try and you will see the name NOKIA will help you more then ELOP or MICROSOFT.
plz, atleast from now dont hire any ex ceo who have worked for large corp who are rival to yours, have some common sense.

AnonD-80894, 03 Sep 2013Always saw this coming, yes so happy right now bahahaha
Fi... moreThats your opinion then. I can however agree that Nokia has made lots of crappy phones, some were downright terrible. My N85 had so terrible quality, little pieces of plastic kept falling off, autofocus broke, keypad became almost unresponsive, and so on. These are actually common Nokia problems, plastic pieces tend to break and crack, keypads were not really durable, the ones who say Nokia has so awesome hardware dont really have much base in reality.
Other example worth mentioning is N78, what the F was that keypad?? How could anyone make anything like that, it was just insane... Other dishonorable mentions include N95, of which i had several, all with different damages and defects and zero battery life. Then of course N97, that keyboard mechanism was NOT innovative (but htc's Z mechanism was). Then 5800 deserves discredit of course, put it beside any other phone and behold the horror, its a miracle that it sold so much with so bad display, painful is the right word. N900 was great in all ways but being such a brick it could not be called well built, this is a problem that has plagued Nokia until this very day, bodies that are much bigger than their internals would indicate.

MSFT aquired NOK for a peanuts. Awesome gameplan by MSFT. Really a moonshot.
GOOG got fooled by buying MOT for $12.5B
http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/15/breaking-google-buys-motorola-for-12-5-billion/
If MOT was worth 12.5B I am completely sure NOK is worth atleast 2 times MOT. They have solid EM business atleast to compare. MOT had nothing except for patents.

Nokia has been stripped of its flesh by scavengers Elop and Balmer. What remains now is a skeleton, just bones. For Nokia to live again it'll take more that just a new OS like Sailfish or Ubuntu. It has to be born again, it'll take time or will never happen again, sadly.
Unfortunately there is no balm for Nokia from Balmer and Elop is flop.

I'm Nokia fan but I'm not too fond with Microsoft. I just hope this all bring good things to user.
plus, ballmer will resign soon, so hopefully Microsoft (including Nokia) going better in next few years.

Am I the only here who thinks Nokia is kind of dead.? I mean bec. they're not that independent anymore. I just don't understand why did they have to do this. If I'm not mistaken, the Lumia series is quite successful, right.?
They're not the Nokia that I used to like. I kind of accepted the fact that Symbian is dead and grasp the WP bec. I just don't like Android no matter how others like it. BUT THIS ONE, THIS is too much.! God, HELLO ELOP.! You're disgusting.! I know I don't know personally how to decide for things/problems like what Nokia is facing but DAMN.! It's Nokia, you know? Is it the only best thing to do right now.? God, I fear NO.
For real, I don't know what I'm exactly feeling right now BUT I guess I'm so angry at you Elop.
Guess I'm gonna switch to JOLLA. Why.? Because they have the spirit that Nokia once have til this month came along and this news explodes.
Still, I love you Nokia and I'm still hoping you do well.
I'm writing/wrote this using my Cyan Nokia Lumia 800 and I can't help but feel really sad about this bad news. :'(
Looking forward on switching to Jolla... This is a bad day(sigh). :(

Wow!!! what a thriller..it would be a gr8 Hollywood Potboiler. Hats off to Microsoft for scripting such manipulative take-over. Took years to plan i suppose.
Simply Put:
FIRST - Microsoft sees it has only software, but no hardware. But it needs to compete with Google(Android)/Samsung and most importantly Apple..esp in handheld/mobile division
SECOND - So Microsoft needs to takeover a Hardware/Mobile company of good repute, but with cash as low as possible.
THIRD - Places a mole/trojan Elop in Nokia so as to dissuade Nokia from heading towards Android(that would be disaster for Microsoft's nefarious plans).Elop does a good job in bringing down Nokia's fortune by making Nokia use Windows Os as Android would have helped Nokia.
FOURTH - Nokia becomes an ailing company making it easy to takeover.
FIFTH - Elop elopes back to Microsoft. A Job well done.
All you authors of Cheap Thrillers, bow and learn what it takes to script a great thriller.

Tale Of OS & manufacturers
The developing battle lines are going vertical
Apple: owns ios & idevices --------Exorbitant profits
Google: owns android (buyout) & motorola (buyout) -----profitable
Samsung: Owns Tizen os, has WP & android devices & good harware backup --------heavy profits
BB: BB10 on BB devices-------sinking but not sunk
Sony: working with android, supporting mozilla but no OS of its own -has good hardware-----profitable
LG: working with android, supporting mozilla but has acquired WebOS -has good hardware-----profitable
HTC: working with android,WP --no os of its own --- good hardware -----just surviving
Now New os
Firefox os : no dedicated manufacturer support
Jolla os : self manufacturing but no wide presence may kill
Ubuntu touch: Good os but again no dedicated manufacturing
So moral of the story (my opinion)
Sony,LG,HTC are still bachelors ready to mingle
perfect match iguess wuld be
Sony: with bb or Jolla
LG : with BB os & ubuntu would be good
HTC : Ubuntu or Jolla os would be good
note: LG & Sony already in line to support FF os hece not mentioned in above matches
Thats all my opinion is hope it happens some day
SONY XPERIA + SONY BB + SONY ubuntu

Thank God. I hope they'll keep on doing what they're both good at, and with a better integration. The MS purchased the best handset maker on the planet for a ridiculously low amount of money. I see them beating apple within two years, provided that they don't decide to go with premium prices like apple. And my personal favorite - this will definitely make sure that Nokia stay on WP and once and for all quiet the spammers repeating "they would've better of with andorid" or "they NEED android quick or they're doomed" like a broken record. You see that they don't need it. Go MS Nokia!

This is the saddest day for all Nokia fans around the world, myself included. I think Nokia's board of directors were paid off heavily by Microsoft, maybe that's why the board of directors didn't pressure on the CEO, Stephen Elop. Well, Nokia is officially dead today. We will miss Nokia a lot. As a Nokia fan, i am pissed off and i want revenge. Since Nokia's mobile business is now owned by Microsoft, but if Microsoft will use Nokia's branding on their phones then it wouldn't be a Nokia phone actually, it will just be Microsoft's with the Nokia name which is nothing now, the legacy of Nokia is over. I'll never ever, ever buy any Nokia phones again(Microsoft phones actually). I used to defend Windows phones 8 OS just because of Nokia even after knowing that it is a crap OS, have nothing to compete with Android or iOS. There's no point in defending Windows phones anymore. From today on, i am a Jolla fan as they had the courage to leave Nokia and create their own business. Sailfish OS is awesome and it is the continuation of MeeGo which wasn't a burning platform actually, it was the best OS ever created; Stephen Elop simply killed it because it was 100 times better than Windows phone OS will ever be, in a sentence. One thing i will miss is the Nokia hardware. Stephen Elop finally made Nokia flop.. True hard-core Nokia fans like myself, should never buy any upcoming Microsoft phones.
