Let's all boycott Microsoft. Don't buy any of their products or use their services. Buy iOS or Android instead of WP. Use Google instead of Bing, Gmail instead of Hotmail. Buy the PS4 instead of Xbone. Use Ubuntu or buy a Mac instead of Windows. Don't upgrade to Windows 8 if you already have Windows 7. Use Nimbuz or Viber instead of Skype. They'll be soon doomed when no one uses their products and services anymore.

A little support came from Intel, because at that time the main hardware platform for Meego was ARM, which Intel could not venture. Sure, Meego is also compatible with x86 architecture, but back in 2010, Intel didn't have a capable-competitive x86 mobile CPU to put it in the market.
Meego was a great system, well coded and a very flexible structure... but didn't have the enough support, money and marketing to take off Meego unlike Google and their billions...

Who knows... Elop could much be better and efficient CEO than Ballmer.
The M$ master plan is to unite the whole Xbox-Windows-Windows Phone in one ecosystem. A great idea if you ask me, just expecting how it develops. Believe or not, we need MS to stay afloat because the increasing Google monopoly... but, by NO means i'm not a MS fanboy, i used to hate Microsoft to death in the 90's because of their gangster monopoly business in the PC market.
Now i see the same gangster attitude from Google and how much data mining and personal data sales they are doing right now.

Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will acquire substantially all of Nokia's Devices and Services business, including the Mobile Phones and Smart Devices business units as well as an industry-leading design team, operations including all Nokia Devices & Services-related production facilities, Devices & Services-related sales and marketing activities, and related support functions.
Microsoft is acquiring Nokia's Smart Devices business unit, including the Lumia brand and products. Microsoft will also acquire the Asha brand and will license the Nokia brand for use with current Nokia mobile phone products. Nokia will continue to own and manage the Nokia brand. This element provides Microsoft with the opportunity to extend its service offerings to a far wider group around the world while allowing Nokia's mobile phones to serve as an on-ramp to Windows Phone.
Also, as part of the transaction, Nokia is assigning to Microsoft its long-term patent licensing agreement with Qualcomm, as well as other licensing agreements.
Nokia will retain its patent portfolio and will grant Microsoft a 10-year non-exclusive license to its patents. Microsoft will grant Nokia reciprocal rights to use Microsoft patents in its HERE services. In addition, Nokia will grant Microsoft an option to extend this mutual patent agreement in perpetuity. In addition, Microsoft will become a strategic licensee of the HERE platform, and will separately pay Nokia for a four-year license.
Approximately 32,000 people are expected to transfer to Microsoft, including 4,700 people in Finland and 18,300 employees directly involved in manufacturing, assembly and packaging of products worldwide.

That means Nokia will never have Android version since Microsoft is the owner now. Nokia should have tried the Android market first before giving up itself to Microsoft. We lost a great hardware company that could have given us an ideal Nokia phone which would run on android....

I can't wait for Elop to be the new CEO of Microsoft and do the same damage he did to Nokia. Microsoft is an unwanted company. Nobody wants them on smartphones and even people are already getting tired of them on desktop. They're not cool. They're boring company only intended for old businessmen.

Stephen Elop became the CEO of Nokia.. Called MeeGo a burning platform whereas the N9 sold well and Nokia abandoned it. Killed Symbian and now killed Nokia. Thankfully, some staffs left the company to form Jolla and continue their excellent work with Sailfish OS(MeeGo). People bought Lumia just because of Nokia even after knowing that Windows phone OS is crap, too much restricted and half baked OS. Now, there is no Nokia and i don't see a reason to buy Lumia anymore.
