TruthSerum, 13 Apr 20251st world comments on this post are hilarious. In India,... moreGoogle is not competing with Samsung nor the Chinese. They're competing with Apple. The focus is in ecosystem and software experience. That's why Google doesn't care about the Tensor chip benchmark numbers.

Mr.E30, 13 Apr 2025Yeas that's why iphone users, most of them, always car... moreTruly said about chinese phones and their practical advantages like battery the speeds and capacity. Even the battery replacement is quite affordable on chinese phones, while apple will charge over a hundred for the same. People just bash them because they have this old age misconception about chinese products being of low quality. That's not the case anymore. Chinese phones now even have their own competing glass protection, which might be equally good or even better than Corning. The honor fold for exapmple, or the huawei tri fold, those are beautiful devices. Not apple or even samsung has managed to make something like that

Pumpino, 13 Apr 2025I think you're generalising. I bought my Pixel mainly ... moreI value bang for a buck and not specifically power. I got Poco F5 for the reason that it come with 3.5mm jack as i would of otherwise went with X5 Pro that have 3.5mm jack and not so good SD 778
For long term use where the phone wont slow down was my goal. I wont even look Samsung A series as the 7 OS updates will slow the phone down with each update to a point it wont probably be useful if it even last 7 years.
And you generalized from your own experience of owning a pixel and think other people also think the same. There are just some people who get it for the camera and updates while there are others who get it cause someone recommend it to them and praise good cameras and long term updates to people who dont really understand what they need from a phone. For me even spending 410 euro on Poco F5 8/256GB was too much and made me a bit regret it as i dont play games that need performance and so on but i wanted to get for once one phone that is not budget to lower end middle class as what i typically buy.
I also buy budget to lower end middle class for the reason that i can buy it out in one go and when something happens to the phone i can buy a new phone and dont need to go trough the process of warranty and repair that i experienced once and it took me 4-5 months and in the end the problem didnt got fixed. And it was Nokia Lumia 830

pl2rts, 13 Apr 2025People buy Pixel for the long term android support and that... moreI think you're generalising. I bought my Pixel mainly for the cameras after being disappointed with midrangers' and upper-midrangers' cameras. Long-term updates were part of it, but if it wasn't for the cameras, I could have bought a cheaper Samsung A series with 7 years of updates. You value power and I value cameras.

I have had iphone and there are some members in my family that uses iphones and they always have charger un the car, in bag or external battery cos they beed some juice in the evening... And oh boy they need one hour to charge 50% unlike Chinese phones, that you say they are bad, need like 10-15 min on charger to charge like 30-50% of the battery. But in 90% they can go all day even with 3-4 year old batteries.

For me the bezels are fine, the problem is the size. When the A series is a small phone it occupies an interesting segment in the market of small non-flagship phone. This consists of like the iPhone 16e, Moto Edge 50 Neo and probably no other. They need to shrink it just a bit more because the problem is that when it's not small enough, it's just much less attractive of a phone.

1st world comments on this post are hilarious.
In India, this phone would cost as much as average 1 month salary of an IT employee. Rest of India, it might be average 3 months salary. Compare that to the price in US & Europe, where it comes to average 1 week salary.
Yes smartphone has become primary camera for most of populated countries & regions, including Indian subcontinent & South East Asia. Buying a dedicated camera is not feasible because it should be top quality in order to be a long term investment, which means most 1/2.3" low-end compact cameras would never fit the bill. And it would cost another 1-3 month salary.
So yes, Pixel 9a with its tiny 1/2.0" camera is NOT A GOOD BUY for someone in India who cares about quality of their photos. This mediocre hardware will become a good buy once price is slashed by 50%. Maybe go with Chinese brands else Samsung has good options like Galaxy M35, A35, A56, etc.

Get out of the rock you're living under. Chinese phones are now outperformimg phones from every brand, not just apple
The new battery tech for example. Apple might easily take a whole decade to put that tech in iphone while it exists today in midrange android phones
