20 April 2025
Some companies already have preview builds of Android 16, other companies are still trying to get Android 15 out the door.

In 2025, Android 11 would still be fine.

The.Baban, 21 Apr 2025Xiaomi 13T Pro, Hyper(shit)OS 2.0 on Android 15 I'm go... moreyeah os 1.0 was refreshing and something new but os 2.0 is literally iOS clone rn 🤦🏽‍♂️

Seems like Android 13 is becoming the minimum nowadays for secure apps (like banking and financial related) as Google just EOL Android 12 from any security patches.

People here: “waa waa where’s Android 15 Samsung sucks”
Also people here: bragging how they are still using phones with Android 10-12

        🙄

Xiaomi 13T Pro, Hyper(shit)OS 2.0 on Android 15 I'm good but nothing new from 14

Pixel 9 Pro XL...I've been on 16 since beta 2. (I always skip the first beta). It's on beta4
            now. No issues.

JimmyTheGreatest, 21 Apr 2025Can you do your banking on Android 10??If a bank has a website, I don't think that one cares what android version you're phone is running.

My Honor X8 5G is one of the earliest 5G phones on the market. Still on Android 12. Still works perfectly. I do miss the updates though but I don't think the chipset can handle Android 14 and above. I'll be holding to it a while longer until I found something I like.

I've got a pixel 8 pro so had it since day one on the phone. My find X5 is on android 14 still I think. Don't really notice much difference between the 2 phones. I think because so many companies add so many of their own features (oneUI, colourOS, hyperOS etc) that many of the "new" features android brings have already been a thing.

It's just for people who buy a device a couple generations old that still get OS updates/low end models that will feel the benefits moreso, they don't get the full suite of features/old enough that even manufacturer hadn't implemented it themselves on the OS version it's stuck on.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2025My phone is still on Android 10 and won't get any more... moreRealistically either till the phone gives up or apps you use stop getting supported/can't install newer apps you need etc.

You can even root the device and just put a more recent Android version on it, most have a boot unlocker in developer options.

My phone's running Android 15, it's not that necessary to me but it's good to get longer software support. Monthly or at least regular security patches are more important. My work phone however is running Android 9. Works well for what it's meant to do.

My Edge 2024 is still on Android 14, and it annoys me honestly. Hello UI 1 has been awful for me and on my other devices, 15 has done a lot of improvements, but despite Motorola promising 15 and the nearly identical Edge 50 Fusion having Android 15 for months, Edge 2024 is still on 14, not even any 15 custom ROMs. Even my crappy old Galaxy A20 got 15 via custom ROMs. Probably won't be getting a Moto again, the hardware is good, but I really hate the software.

My phone is still on Android 10 and won't get any more updates. I've been using it as my daily driver and all apps and features work fine except some overheating sometimes. Also it has a sluggish eMMC storage of only 64GB. How many more years do you think I could keep using this phone with Android 10?

Since past few years all android phones are litterary same noone cares much to be honest.
For me years of updates were always lot more important than number of updates because i swap everytime my warranty goes off just to avoid risk of expensive repair if accident happens.
