When you cannot beat it, condemn it.

deedee, 02 Oct 201364 bit is not only for RAM, if its so then y apple tops in ... moreI agree and disagree with you. There is indeed little advantage to the 64 bit arch aside from its ability to manage more RAM.

But the Apple's A7 speeds are by no means gimmicky. Given its benchmarking performance, there must be something really good about that SoC.

I openly hate on Apple, their business model and practices towards their consumer base and the competition in the industry. However I must admit that, from a technical standpoint, the A7 is a well crafted and performing component.

I'm just not so sure it's directly the 64 bit arch one should thank to.

Agree that it's a gimmick because with only 1GB DRAM you'll very likely lose whatever you were working on or viewing when switching between apps and browser tabs.

64 bit is not an increment rather its a decrement . 64 bit means 4 gb ram . 4gb ram means bigger apps . Bigger apps means more work to the processor and thus big toll on the battery . We dont need numbers we need balance

i have WP8-powered Huawei W1, and i found out that WP8 has serious flaw. the OS keep filling the internal memory with junk files (especially Others folder) until no more space left, and there's no way you can clear the folder since WP OS doesn't allow user to access its file system.

it's so frustating and i can guarantee that my next phone won't be WP.

I've been saying this from the get go, you only can take full advantage of 64-bit processing when you have over 3gb of ram,I believe the a7 are tweak to preform better in benchmarks, but in everyday usages is Bearly faster than the a6 in the iphone 5.

He's hardly gonna praise Apple for being one step ahead! Qualcomm won't have 64-bit chips in phones until sometime in the middle of next year, so the obvious solution is to bash the competition instead.

Of course, a 64-bit chip means nothing if the OS is not rewritten to take advantage if this hardware. Whether Google can engineer 64-bit versions of the Dalvik VM within the next year is anyone's guess. By then, they will be coding for zillions of different instruction sets — Armv8, Armv7, Armv6, X86-32, X86-64...

Yeah, I agree. No advantage for now for the consumer.
Maybe one day when cellphones really need more ram.
But of course apple as to sell and apple fans will always swear how great this is and how nothing else is like it...
