Anonymous, 03 Dec 2008i think NOKIA selling N97 at Q2 2009 for saving 5800XMI don't think so.
It's 2 different phone, 2 different market segment. 2 different price.
There will be someone who thinks that they don't need the keyboard, and save a couple hundreds buck in doing so.
I think N97 should come out now!!! and E91 too PLEASE!!!!!!!!

nokia won't like xperia, branded by se made by HTC
such a cheap brand give their phone to HTC to make due to use window os
Xperia not a original design, it copy from HTC TyTH
the slide mechanism also different,
N97 is same like HTC TyTH ll
XPERIA is like MOTOROLA Z10

I think that N97 will hurt Apple a lot, And I think we all should rejoice.
I have nothing against apple. Except that I think that Apple need to change it's bussiness practice if it's really want to stay in this industry. My sister, who own apple iphone, she had to keep a different handphone just to travel outside the USA.
So, I don't think that N97 should be comparable to iphone. IT IS the iphone killer. because:
1. no simcard lock, provider lock. N97 wins
2. best bluetooth support. apple bluetooth only partial support. N97 wins
3. available in more country than iphone. N97 wins
4. SymbianOS. open, lots of apps. No need apple to teach you how to write apps. N97 wins
5. apple might invent the multi-touch. but nokia re-invent it. doing better

N97 vs. SE X1 vs. iPhone
The comparison between the Noka N97 and SE X1 is ONLY skin deep, or not...
These are two phones that would definitely compete with consumers wanting QWERTY phones but there are also other alternatives like the E71, E63, Samsung i780, etc.
Do take note that these phones target different market segments. SE X1 will most likely attract business-oriented consumers and those smart enough to utilize the sophisticated WM OS.
The Nokia N97 targets both mainstream and business segments, which has always been the strength of the N series. With a less steep learning curve, this OS easier for people to adopt.
iPhone comparison? by now, it should be pretty clear that the iPhone is leagues behind the N97 in terms of (most) hardware and software capabilities although it still touts the least sophisticated interface hence a plus for targets with low learning curves. Mind you, the iPhone has a very capable processor and with huge potential however this is greatly hampered by Apple's emphasis on restrictive 'simplicity' and good old capitalism.
The N97 is the next step towards harnessing the platform's full potential. The combination of full hardware navigation and touch control is the main strength of the S60 Touch interface. This opens doors to new and exciting applications that would increase user productivity and recreation.
Although this remains to be seen, kudos to Nokia. We are yet to see how the 5800 will perform.

From the highest score in GSMarena, Nokia lose to X1 and C905, but it simply becoz some SE die hard who give 10 10 10, maybe they are willing to vote tenth times or more in a day, to promote their X1 and C905. So sad to see those desperate SE fans...
They must be so sad seeing gsmarena or phonearena give bad score to their C905, even LG Renoir can beat C905 easily.

Why the hell do you want more than 5 megapixel? Do you know what that does to the picture quality with a ccd so tiny to fit in a mobile? Please stop the megapixel war by thinking a little!

I bought xperia x1 a week ago. And i think its a good phone for the poor. I mean N96 is way better. So i sell my xperia and get myself an omnia. Way better than the xperia. And for the iphone, wow! Incredebly... Ugly spec shit. Cant wait for my new dreamgadget, N97!!

Nokia have finally done it, the N97 is a covergence of the best available hardware and software available across the globe, it is going to start a movement which is bigger than the one N95 had started..... the SE Xperia X1 will not be able to make a great impact because the platform they have used isnt good enough... Windows mobile does not even put up a fight against the Mighty Symbian OS.
