Nokia unveil N86 8MP, this time it's as official as it gets

17 Feb, 2009
As you probably already know, Nokia N86 leaked yesterday, but today it makes the news all official. Named Nokia N86 8MP, it's got the first 28mm wide angle lens on a mobile phone. There's also a kickstand...

I belive Sharp's 8 MP CCD module has a mechanical shutter.. before the n86...
The Casio W53CA and W63CA have had 28mm lenses
Ever since Sharp made a 5MP Camera phone they have had 29mm lenses
Now to be honest, the best cameraphone of all time is the Sharp 903SH.. the beast matches low-end point and shoots... quite an accomplishment. 3.2MP CCD (1/2.5")!!! with 2x Optical zoom. I need to see something like that come out again. The only bad thing about the phone was its size.. 2.2cm thick.. but one of the best equipped phones for its time.

I don't get this argument about quality...

Carl Zeiss only approves of another companies design, and most of the camera modules come from the same place.. AKA - Sony or Samsung for the mass produce 3.2 or 2.0 MP sensors shoved into every phone...
you know Carl Zeiss doesn't waste time on these pointless plastic lenses when they are really working on their Ikons, and Bessas and their manual lenses for EF, K, F mounts

Woah. A wide angle lens? thats like the best thing in digital cameras at the moment! Good for Nokia! While other manufacturers are adding rather small, useless MP's Nokia is upgrading the optics and adding a WIDE ANGLE LENS!! AMAZING!

Oh, and the white is so nice =]

      This is for NOKIA:

      I'm a Nokia fan...

      Why don't you release:N70, N73, N95, N82, N97, N86,
in that order....Because that way we can taste and see the improvements ..
      Why releasing N95 8GB and N96?
      Because: N95 = N95 8GB and N96 and N85 and N79

We get confused. We don't know what phone We could buy..
Any way Nokia is still number one.
And We always know every phone from Nokia is excellent..

But why releasing too many phones with the same features?

Once in a while you should release a phone like N95, which is too complete, and that's a phone for an era, because N95 is the best in it's moment..

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2009If you still use N95 8G, id say hold on to it. Nokia doesn'... morethe only reason i gave up N95 8g was cause its usb speed is messed up, around 5ook/s... it annoyed like hell...

into N85 i gotta say i love its size and daam man the contrast in the OLED is freakn amazing... the USB SPEED is insane 2.5mb/s!!!!!!!

        Keep Chillin Homies

If you still use N95 8G, id say hold on to it. Nokia doesn't seem to come up with something that would send your N95 8G to retirement.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2009Call me naive, on one hand you say reusing old model number... moreand asking that question about why nokia did not say anything about not caring for their customer...thats just B*ll$hit..you expect nokia to gain profit by telling the market that "we dont care about our customers"!? dig deep inside your brain and ask yourself...now that you are asking me this kind of questions..im begining to think that i am arguing with a 4 year old....

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2009Call me naive, on one hand you say reusing old model number... moreits easier to remember a phone model if you have heard it already.for old people like you who easily forgets,it will be easier to remember..the reason why they release new models is because they want to make people think that they are releasing new models(implies "upgrade")..your only making things difficult by questioning so many things..nokia would never do this strategy if it is not backed-up with heavy study..as you just mentioned in your previous article, there is a third party involvement...and do try to read your comments...your actually asking questions almost similar to "why is your face like that"..pointless...

Woah, 8mp cam phone. Really nice. Nokia's symbian phone is better than samsung for sure. Me now using the innov8 and the software doesn't load as smoothly as I experienced on N95 and previous Nokia symbian phones.
I might get N86 depending on my hands-on experience on a real set.

Hoping Samsung can improve faster cos, I like korean phones design. And so, in the future we can get great look & functions. Hahaha...

Nokia has disappointed big time! All the others can produce innovative and nice looking touch screen phones. Not to mention the Symbian UI which everybody else has implemented much better than Nokia.
I am really disappointed! Ok, I now that these days Nokia is really week, but I was not expecting to make a phone which could be compared to Omnia HD or Imau, but… not even having a phone which can compare to the iPhone!!! After two years of release of the iPhone Nokia still cant` mach it!!! That is a shame!!!
I guess I am not the only one who is saying god bye to Nokia.
