Nokia Oyj will soon be renamed to Microsoft Mobile Oy

20 April, 2014
The name change follows Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia Devices with the Finns rumored to keep supplier base.

We love nokia that's why we are emotionally attached but big organisations are smart enough to get customers back to them I am expecting aggressive pricing and marketing strategy from Microsoft once acquisition is over

The end of an era. Everyone in the industry should applaud the immense contribution has made to the industry over the last two decades. The communications mobile industry is richer for it.

AnonD-84813, 20 Apr 2014Microsoft should keep the name Nokia if they really want to... morei really honestly from the deep bottom of my heart want to see Microsoft death news now

Given the acquisition and the resulting impact, this makes complete sense.

What I do hope is that Microsoft continue to run with the Lumia brand at the forefront and continue to let Nokia's incredible designers innovate in device form factors.

Nokia will need to give users some assurance. Going with a new name it makes sense that they will cease all support for existing Lumia the moment the name Nokia is dropped and that include the brand new 930!

Well, I'm a guy and I like women. I like my "Nokia" N8 because it's like having a female secretary or companion in my pocket. "Motorola" had great phones and designs too, used to love their phones before Nokia. But I have to think about carrying a "Microsoft" with me. It just wouldn't feel the same emotionally. :-/

I feel that MS would be foolish to change the name of the Nokia brand. Nokia has to big of a heritage in the mobile market and will be seen by many as a name you can trust. On the other hand Microsoft is a big name but will also be a new name on the market for Mobile Phone manufacturers. KEEP THE NOKIA NAME ALIVE!
