Before it I had a Nokia E51 and this X2 had some things that Symbian S60v3 fp1 didn't. Now I'm using a Nokia N8 but the other two phones are still here and working normally. Just too bad about S40, I used to make themes for it, you can do pretty much everything with a bit of Photoshop... For a lot of people it's all they really need.

But if yo... moreI know their plans and they can't go back on what they call an innovative platform because their PC and RT systems run on the same looking system, they are failing and it's only the cheaper end of their phones that sell, clue is in the sentence (Cheap) with that in mind it doesn't matter what they come up with, their whole infrastructure is broken and can't be changed as they'd have to go back to the drawing board, nokia should have dropped their maps (which are great by the way) and went with android, i've said this all along, they'd be a big hitter now. But no Microsoft sold them a dream, a bad one.

Feel for the employee's, microsoft have failed on so many levels for years, Vista, windows ME, windows mobile, windows 8, windows 8.1, christ do they have a bunch of blind people with shapes in their design office? The android phone in a nokia body is the only phone that people want, high end nokia lumia's simply don't sell, why? Because they're too expensive for something which is at the end of the day mediocre, no xbox games, no gears of war, no halo, just crap made by people who were bored at the time. Nokia 520 sells well because it's a cheap smart phone, the others don't, get a clue microsoft, you're letting go of the one part of your mobile industry that could make the difference.
Sad times and bad ideas.

I've been using S40 phones for many years, still far prefer it over any smartphone OS.
It's such a fantastic, simple, and user-friendly OS.

Can't help but I feel Satya Nadela didn't do the right thing here. It could save cost in near future but in long run it will make thing worse for MS.
I hope those who get layoff will find job soon, on better company that can make full use of their expertise with Nokia.

Painful but necessary next step. Microsoft ridding itself of bloat, and focusing on fundamentals. If Nokia picks up and grows, hopefully people will then get their jobs back.
