Anonymous, 16 May 2009Whether or not HK is a modern city compare to any place in ... moreYou said that HK had its first 3G in 2004. So there, you wouldn't have any problems operating iphone 3G to access its internet for traffic applications.

Why are you bringing up cars and airports? You are off topic. It seems that now you are boasting of HK's modernization. Yet earlier you gave me the impression that HK depends its life on FM radio, lol.

You said "if the typhoon is within about 120 miles of HK, we would hoist a signal to "officially" announce people should / can go home". Is that through FM radio only? Your experience in 1985 is irrelevant. Didn't your car have a radio? Were you the only person in HK at that time that you couldn't ask anybody what the heck was going on? You are not making any sense. And what has that experience in 1985 got to do with cellphones? If there is a major calamity in any country, schools are always closed, or even businesses. Did you see any American students or workers going to school or work when hurricane Katrina occurred? You're being silly. And again, what has that got to do with the FM radio being a must on cellphones?

In the event of a catastrophe like hurricanes. It is not because the carrier couldn't handle mass calling, it is because transmitters or satellites are damaged by the catastrophe that call signals could not go through. Millions of people use the phone lines every day here in the US so I do not know what you are talking about carriers not able to handle multiple calls at the same time.

Your logic is messed up. FM is not essential on a phone like you are making it to be. Your excuses are lame. How can having FM on a phone be convenient? Maybe for a phone that has nothing else to offer, FM would be a welcomed feature, but not on phones like the iphone that can do so many other things than using it to listen to FM, hahahaha.

You are also wrong with your assumption of Apple's strategy. They are not omitting known features just so they can add it on to the next model. Apple simply prioritizes what features should go in first and fit in a small device. I don't think that Apple would have a hard time putting in all of those features in. It's a matter of how to fit all features in a small device that is the concern. So they have to prioritize, until hardware technology comes that could accommodate more features in a small device. Try common sense.

Anonymous, 17 May 2009The FM radio headset should be "original" Moto accessory...... moreI know that, the V60 and V70 shared the same plugs, I was just saying I had one with my V70 the FM receiver was built into the headset, it was the same one which worked with the V60 and is the same as buying a headset with built in FM receiver for an iPhone.

Having a built in FM receiver in a phone is no big deal, can I listen to Hong Kong radio from Australia on it?

          No.

Can I listen to Hong Kong radio via Pandora on my iPhone from Australia?

          Yes.

So this will run on 3.0 and with updated hardware & features! Great! I just hope it has video recording at vga @ 30 fps and a better lens. They could put a 12mp sensor but if the lens is the same it will just look like the 2mp.

They did. Its called the i900 omnia. It is superior to the current 3g iphone in nearly every way... Camera, memory capacity (since it is expandable!), blue tooth freedom... etc etc. The only issue is it runs a windoze OS. In many ways, it is superior to THIS NEW iPhone too.

Anonymous, 15 May 2009Look. The iphone is a modern device to be used in a modern... moreWhether or not HK is a modern city compare to any place in US really depends on what you look at...

We've our first 3G network back in 04, how many years did it take US to get into 3G?

We've cars with power windows / locks / mirrors being "standard" on all cars since 1985. How about in US? Don't you guys still have new cars with "manual" windows and door locks?

HK's 10-years old airport is still one of the best in the world, where luggage is available around 20 mins upon the "plane's arrival", and given the (sometimes rather long) walk from the plane thru immigration (which would be less than 5 mins for residents) and stuff, luggage would be available at the carousel, and we've s sophisticated system to make sure luggage do not stack on top on each other.

San Francisco Intl airport opened a few years AFTER the one in HK. Sorry, still no direct rail to downtown. Would be lucky to get my luggae 20 minutes AFTER near 40 minutes thru the immigration...and no system (or even humans) to ensure luggage do not stack on top of each other.

Our weather forecast is not as accurate as in US, though we have set "standards" as if the typhoon is within about 120 miles of HK, we would hoist a signal to "officially" announce people should / can go home...without being fired.

I still remember back in 1985 I was stuck in the car for 6 hours on I80 out of the 1 hour journey, didn't get home til 6am, and I tried to find out if I still needed to go to school....no announcement anywhere...and I ended up in school. Should I take the day off myself? What if I fall behind on school homeworks?

We don't make our own judgement and risk losing whatever...school, stock, business, etc...to our competitors based on weather. We've government officals to tell "everyone" to get a day off. So the game is fair.

HK is about 60 square miles with population over 7 million and 15 million registered phone user. I admit we don't have a network to handle ALL the phone calls AT THE SAME TIME. If you want to tease us, better ask which yourself which city can handle over 10 million phone calls AT THE SAME TIME? If you can't (think about the case of 911, the big storm in Louisana, various earthquakes, etc...where all phone lines were also jammed), stop teasing others on things you can't do.

Phone companies have admiited NO phone company would build a network to handle ALL CALLS BE MADE AT THE SAME TIME, as such would seldom happen and would not be cost efficient.

Yes, I can pay extra for a radio, I can also pay extra to get a cam, ipod, etc...if so, why do I still need an iphone? An ipod touch + DC + a phone with radio probably can do everything else...

Is more of a question of convenience. If you don't believe me, ask your better half as if she would prefer an all-in-one device or carry an ipod touch + DC + mobile phone separately....in addition to dozens of other stuff in her bag.

My understanding of Apple's strategy, which is inline with most others anyway, is to purposely NOT make certain (even rather fundamental like radio or video call capability) features available, so to ensure there will always be something "new" about the next version to attract people so they've further justification to buy the new version.

Even my favorite brand Motorola does the same thing....the first phone with radio was available in 2001, first 3G phone in 2004....and when do I get a 3G phone with radio from the company? 2009 with the (possibly OEM) W7!
