I defense of windows 8 desktop it much easier on the eyes than windows 7 (personal experience)

The android UI is basically the same as used on Symbian OS. Android becomes boring because of all the bloatware it comes with. So many unwanted icons like samsung chaton, sony tv apps etc etc. It's annoying to have them on the phone. on WP you get freedom to uninstall apps installed by the manufacturer. So u can get rid of AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile crap that they have installed. Both android and WP have their own selling points. people hate Windows desktop live tiles because it people have to keep switching from desktop to metro and vice-versa. I hate that! It's annoying but MS couldn't avoid it metro apps work on metro interface and desktop apps works in desktop environment. WP has no desktop mode so no annoyance

For all existing windows phone 8 devices, we can receive the latest os update, unlike android they need to buy new android smartphone. Lack of windows phone apps? ok haha.

WP8.1 GDR1 still don't support Snapdragon ... moreWhen the iPhone 6 hit the stores, is very likely that will come with outdated specs compare with the competition, but most people won't care and still buy the iPhone 6... so the "specs do matter" stuff at some point is highly overrated and is not that important as you might think.
About the icons... well i just saw some chinese OEM's trying to copycat the WP tiles features with launchers in their Android phones-tablets... that means there is an interest for that UI concept.

windows phone updates are all talk. they are try to pull wool over your eyes to try to stay relevant for a little longer. don't you ever believe them. have you ever had a real update from them?

bringing these changes... moreHighly doubt so. WP8.1 GDR1 still don't support Snapdragon 810. I have no idea why MS is always steps behind the competitors. Don't tell me specs doesn't matter for Windows Phone because when other competitors promote their phones running on the latest hardware, consumers will NOT even take a glance at Windows Phones.
iPhone 6 is coming along with Android revamped Android L. I can tell you Windows Phone sales will be dipping even further more.

I know you don't have to install everything, but at least, when you need an app, it can be found on the play store! Unlike on Windows phone, we need to know the exact 3rd party app name in order to know which to install. I mean, both iOS and Android users have no idea what 6tags, 6snap, etc are!
Furthermore, icons are something which most users are comfortable with, even till date. Look at how many people hate against the new tile Start screen on Windows 8. Exactly that's why putting consumers off for Windows Phone due to the tiles.

, if you visit wincentral theres a lot of new features to be added in 8.1 gdr1, the folder is just one of them, and, why not, my $180 phone is almost 2 years and continuesly getting an update.with 512mb
