17 September, 2014
The losses are expected to quadruple due to the low sales performance of the company's mid-range phones.

sony has become the world's slowest inefficient vertically integrated company of all time. they are working under a japanese fundamental base established which is waaaaay out of date. their overhead costs are so heavy that they can't produce products with competing costs anymore. the sad reality is that all japanese companies are in this sort of trouble. so their domestic sales results are great whereas their international sales , thy be high sales revenue but their running costs are heavy. sony's subsidiaries should have been sold off and broken into pieces a long time ago. sad company though. they have not much clue as what they should be doing in the future with the brand.

How do they think to shine in midrange sector when they leave their best midrange phone(Xperia sp) on 4.3 jelly bean?

Problem is they release so many phones and such similar names. Also the support for these mid-range and budget phones is SO hit and miss that it puts people off - will the user get anything beyond the base firmware the device launches with...
Most of the time no. If they're lucky yes.
May be they should launch less devices, keep those midrange devices around for longer and support them ALL better, then people would feel happy to have a Sony phone as opposed to they buy the phone, there is a fault and its never fixed, so customers go elsewhere.

I really love all of Sony products ( Vaio,PS,Xperia,etc..) and I have one or more of all the three of them , But this is a good thing to happen .. This should make them reconsider their 6 months cycle with the Z3 have really not much to offer than the Z2 , everything in the Z3 could've been ported to Z2 with a simple update , except for the camera I guess. And their all-range same design .. You can't just put your top notch phone's design into your budget one .

Sony should produce a smart phone with hardware qwerty keyboard, like for example an upgraded version of sony xperia pro. That would increase their phone sales.

Sony has launched too many models at the same time.

Sony should follow HTC to focus on high end and mid-range.

Two months ago, I purchased an Xperia Z2 smartphone. This is the first Sony phone for me. I bought it primarily because it was an international phone with lots of LTE bands. I bought a Samsung S5 and a LG G3 at the same time. I sold the G3, gave my son the S5, and kept the Z2 for myself.

I kept the Z2 because it s the better device overall. I liked the S5 because of its swappable battery. I did not like the complicates settings menu and all the carrier bloat that took time to get rid of. I also disliked the effort it took to root it and all the regional and Knox crap.

The LG was also too messy and overly complicated. It also lagged here and there. I was able to get a wireless charging back cover for it, but the phone overheated and stopped wireless charging while using Google maps to navigate in the car.

I wish the Sony had wireless charging and/or a removeable battery. It has not been a problem to charge it because the battery lasts me about 14 to 16 hours and charges fast with the magnetic charger. However, I do not like the magnetic charging solution. The phone cannot be charged with my slim fit case using the dockncharger. The wire chargers are finicky. Qi charging would have made the Z2 a more awesome device.

The Sony has a great screen. I preferred its color and themes over the higher pixel count G3. I use FM radio all day with very little battery drain and no data usage.

I bought the Z2 online. It was a Taiwanese model. I should have been able to buy it unlocked from the US Sony store online but it was never available. It's no wonder they are losing money.

I am planning on buying the Z3 8" tablet. I love it that it has phone and FM radio built in. It's screen may not have a huge pixel count but I'm sure it will look fantastic and preserve battery life.

I hope for the Z4 they include wireless charging and move the buttons so the device can work in a car cradle. A removeable battery with Qi charging would be even better. They need to bag the magnetic charging or make some slim fit tpu cases that work with it.

Sony should increase the internal Storage to at least 32Gb; 16 is not enough for a premium device. Also, they need the ability to store apps on the SD card. I cannot believe that I cannot do that on my Z2.

Lastly, I would prefer an 5.5" screen to the 5.2 one. I had a Z Ultra but it was too large to carry around daily and too small to be a tablet. I would also prefer a pure Google phone but with the Bravia engine.

The Z2 is a fantastic, fast smooth and beautiful phone that is very well thought out. A few changes could put Sony on top. I hope they will listen.

skpe, 17 Sep 2014sony should stick to making playstation games and tvs smart... moreIt's sad Sony doesn't even make their own TVs ever since their plant shutdown in Japan probably about 20 years ago majority of all the better TVs I have LG panels especially the flagship models such as their 4k using LG's IPS technology to make There tvs look better just like apple.

Xperia till Z2 was boring....lets see what else they have in the stable.

Meanwhile in India even companies like xolo micromax have updated their device to Kitkat. And their camera quality too. Just look at Xperia C's front cam quality. One word, HORRIBLE!!. Caring about Flagships should not be the only thing. If they dont give a damn to midrangers in terms of update, even the market will give them one!
