Blowing into mic/charging port area fixes Galaxy Note8 and S8/S8+ mic issues as well

Himanshu, 10 November 2017

Just yesterday, we told you Google Pixel 2/2 XL users are reporting that the device's muted mic issue can be fixed by blowing into the bottom speaker. And now, it has come to light the same process works for Samsung's Galaxy Note8 and S8/S8+ flagship smartphones as well.

Hilarious, but true. If you take a look at the official Samsung forums (links at the bottom of the story), you'll see that users of both the Note8 as well as the S8/S8+ have also been complaining about mic not working during calls, or while using virtual assistant apps.

And many of them were able to resolve the issue by blowing into the mic/charging port area at the bottom.

It's worth mentioning that the solution doesn't have a 100% success rate, but it worked for a significant number of affected users. Then there are also others, for whom things like rebooting or disabling specific apps worked.

So, it's currently difficult to say where exactly the problem lies. Officially, Samsung - like Google - is yet to comment on the matter.
