Dimensity 900-powered Oppo runs Geekbench, tops Snapdragon 750G/765G results

Currently we know of only one phone that uses MediaTek’s new Dimensity 900 chipset and that is the Oppo Reno6 5G. That particular chip (MT6877V/ZA) was spotted running Geekbench inside the Oppo CPH2251. Is that the Reno6 5G? Perhaps, but it could be a related Reno device.

Geekbench 5 scores: Oppo CPH2251 with Dimensity 900
Geekbench 5 scores: Oppo CPH2251 with Dimensity 900

The score is pretty interesting as the Dimensity 900 is one of the most promising mid-range chipsets to be announced recently. It is a 6nm chip with two Cortex-A78 cores (2.4 GHz), a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU and a 5G modem.

Unfortunately we don’t have score results for the Snapdragon 778G yet, Qualcomm’s own 6nm chip for the premium mid-range segment and a direct competitor. We do have results for the Snapdragon 780G, however, a higher-end 5nm chip, as well as some older offerings.

GeekBench 5 (multi-core)

Higher is better

  • Snapdragon 780G (Mi 11 Lite 5G)
    2909
  • Dimensity 900 (Oppo CPh2251)
    2147
  • Snapdragon 750G (Galaxy A42 5G)
    1910
  • Snapdragon 765G (Reno5 5G)
    1813
  • Dimensity 700 (Realme 8 5G)
    1784
  • Helio G95 (Realme 8)
    1690
  • Dimensity 800U (F19 Pro+ 5G)
    1648

GeekBench 5 (single-core)

Higher is better

  • Snapdragon 780G (Mi 11 Lite 5G)
    803
  • Dimensity 900 (Oppo CPh2251)
    729
  • Snapdragon 750G (Galaxy A42 5G)
    643
  • Snapdragon 765G (Reno5 5G)
    608
  • Dimensity 800U (F19 Pro+ 5G)
    591
  • Dimensity 700 (Realme 8 5G)
    569
  • Helio G95 (Realme 8)
    533

From these admittedly early results, the Dimensity 900 CPU appears to be faster than the Snapdragon 750G and 765G as well as lower-numbered Dimensity chips. It will be interesting to see where the 778G slots in considering its fabbed on the same node as the Dimensity and has similar hardware too.

PS. there is another Dimensity 900-powered phone in the works, a vivo V2123A, which also ran Geekbench. Unfortunately it ran version 4 of the benchmark, so it’s not directly comparable with the results above.

Dimensity 900 seems to be the hottest choice for the users and I think there could be a couple of smartphones coming soon with it.
