Peter, 07 April 2024

The OnePlus Nord CE4 went on sale in India this week – did you buy one? Are you planning to? Let’s talk about it. And in case you missed it, check out our Nord CE4 hands-on review for a closer look at the phone.

With the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in charge, the CE4 offers a notable boost in GPU performance (nearly double) and comparable CPU speed to its predecessor (it has a slight edge, but the emphasis is on slight). The Qualcomm chip is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB storage (UFS 3.1), with a microSD slot for more.

The camera uses a new main sensor (Sony LYT-600), which produces good looking shots at 12.5MP resolution, but the high-res 50MP mode and the 2x zoom leave something to be desired.

The battery is 10% larger at 5,500mAh and it charges faster at 100W (wired only). In our tests, a full charge was achieved in 29 minutes, while 15 minutes were enough to get to 69%.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 costs ₹25,000 for the 8/128GB model and ₹27,000 for the 8/256GB one. From April 5 onward, you can get get an instant bank discount of up to ₹1,500 and up to ₹2,500 exchange bonus. Let’s look at some similarly priced devices.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro is ₹26,000 for an 8/128GB phone. It has the weaker Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip and no microSD slot, but it does have a 3.5mm headphone jack. The main camera has a larger 200MP sensor, while the 6.67” display is slightly sharper and with richer colors. The 5,100mAh battery supports 67W charging (44 minutes to full). Both phones are rated IP54 for dust and splash resistance.

The Poco X6 uses the same 7s Gen 2 chipset and the same 6.67” 120Hz 12-bit display as the Redmi, same IP54 rating too. The 5,100mAh battery is identical with 67W charging. The main camera is less impressive at 64MP, though. The vanilla X6 is ₹23,000 with plenty of RAM and storage – 12/512GB.

The Nothing Phone (2a) runs on the Dimensity 7200 Pro, which isn’t up to par with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. This one stands out with its 50MP ultra wide camera (the main is also 50MP), but the 6.7” 120Hz FHD+ display and IP54 rating are similar enough to the Nord, while the 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging is a step down. The 2a goes for ₹24,000 for an 8/128GB unit.

The Realme 12 Pro+ is pricier, starting at ₹30,000 for the 8/128GB configuration. It uses the weaker Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, but it stands out with its camera – the 50MP main and 8MP ultra wide are joined by a 3x 64MP periscope. The 6.7” 120Hz FHD+ OLED display is comparable to the Nord, the 5,000mAh battery with 67W charging is not. You do get slightly better dust and water resistance with an IP65 rating, but no expandable storage.

Waiting for OnePlus Nord4...

Well thats exactly i wanted to say. Playing clash of lords since 2014 and can honestly say no phone with 2GB ram and 8 or 16GB storage would run that game no matter what in 2024.
