I got this phone 2 days back. Got this phone because I lost my SONY T630 Phone. We cannot compare this phone with SONY but I got this phone in a hope to do this basic things, like phone calls & SMS. Well phone does works well on calls, SMS. Phone also has speaker phone, ringtone volume and sound is simply superb. First I was thinking of buying Motorola c 168 but then decided not to spend extra money. Also I thought of Nokia 6030 before buying this, 6030 has better looks but its too costly.
In Pune[India] I got this phone for 2400 with handfree. Motorola c 168 was for 2800 and Nokia 6030 was for 4000. So if you looking for basic phone with decent ring sound with very light weight. Go for this phone, I found this phone to be very fast.

good descent phone with good ergonomics and standard features.what else would we need in a cell phone which is used mainly for communicating through voice or sms.3g phones seems boring after u have used it for a period of time.at the end of the day u will use cell only for talking or sms purpose.

In the US market this phone is specifically made as the sucessor to the Nokia 1100 which is in the prepaid market. Performs as well as it can being designed as a "make and receive" calls monochromatic cell-phone. If you want color with bells and whistles go buy a Samsung....

Well, less than 50% of the population own a mobile phone and subscribe to a phone service. Based on the latest stats I found, that is. And I believe the operators know how many customers they have.
Mobile phones may be common in Philiphines, but then, they're common everywhere these days. And I wouldn't still compare Philiphines to say Northern or Western Europe in mobile phone usage and service subscription, for example.
Nothing special in Philippines. And no, I've no idea what/who these "grease people" are...

"The mobile phone penetration in Philippines is below 50%, so this is utter BS..."
Whoever told you that? While some phone models are not "officially" released in the Philippines, you can find almost ANY mobile phone in Manila being sold by 3rd-party stores, most of them coming from China (except of course the CDMA and 1900 MHz phones which is of no use there). Cellphone shops are literally everywhere and everyone, even "grease people", have a cellphone.
In fact, the Philippines is branded the 'Texting Capital of the World' because of millions of texts sent each day. Did you know that the Nokia 5510 was intended to be exclusive for Filipinos? But of course it flopped.

Nokia 1112 is an excellent phone..the polyphonic ringtones sound better than very advanced phones...it's almost better than my 6610, except that screen size is too small...the limiting feature is no data cable support, so u can't add more polyphonic tones, only monophonics!

In the PHILIPPINES, almost everyone have at least two phones. A main high-end smartphone, and a 2nd low-end basic phone. I see at least two reasons for this:
1. We have here 3 GSM networks. The big 2 being 'SMART Communications' and 'GLOBE Telecom'. The 3rd, and cheaper alternative, is called 'SUN Cellular'. Many people here today have either a 'SMART or GLOBE' as their main phone, and use it for business. Then they also have a 2nd 'SUN' phone for friends. You see, SUN Cellular offers us UNLIMITED voice calls and text 24/7 for a fixed monthly charge of only about US$7.00! It is a really cheap alternative to stay in touch with your friends. But because of the fact that we are allowed to do unlimited calls , they usually suffer from network congestion, so it is bad for business. The reason for having also a Smart/Globe SIM for those important business calls.
2. Cellphone theft is VERY COMMON in the Philippines. Snatchers, pickpocketers, hold-uppers are EVERYWHERE! It is REALLY SCARY taking the train or walking home late at night with your Nokia N80! In these instances when we had to go somewhere where we feel less secure, we bring our low-end phone with us.
For these reasons, the Nokia 1100 is a hit in the Philippines. It is "everyone's 2nd phone". I'm sure the Nokia 1110/1112 will be popular as a 2nd phone as well.

TO MAKE A PRODUCT THAT IS SIMPLE, EASY TO USE, AND SERVES ITS INTENDED PURPOSE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH STUPIDITY. The Nokia 1110/1110i/1112 IS A PHONE and works perfectly as is! Let me tell you about a couple of people I know. I have a friend who has an N70 but doesn't know what the hell 3G is. And one of my friend's mom has an N90 only to use it for texting and taking pictures. They don't even know how to use half of their smartphones capabilities! In fact, these people get these high-end phones only to show off, not for their functionality. These people, are what you call STUPID!
I got myself a Nokia 1110 because i got tired of all those Symbian phones I had in the past. Sure they have really neat features but I would only use them for the first few weeks and get bored with them eventually. I end up using them for plain texting. You see I've got better things to do rather than draining my phone's battery listening to pirated MP3s, or taking photos of myself which looked terrible anyway. People who know cameras and photography would agree that cameras are not just about pixels. There is focusing, optical zoom, etc. and it is in fact STUPID to put a 2-megapixel camera in a phone that does not even have these functions. When I used to have a camera phone I would print my pictures at only 2x3 size anyway, and I personally THINK that a picture taken with a VGA cam would look just as nice as one taken with a 2-megapixel at such print-size. So again, having a 2-megapixel camera in a phone (which you only use for taking everyday pictures and not professional photography anyway), is STUPID.
And what else is stupid? A color LCD in a low-end phone is STUPID! Why put color LCD when you don't even have MMS? (i.e. Nokia 1600).
Frankly, I don't see anything stupid about the Nokia 1110. It's in fact PERFECT for its class. Its easy, its practical, its cheap and it works. If Nokia would sell it for $200 then damn, that is stupid. But wtf it sells at a ridiculous price of $50! So why are you people complaining about not having color; not having camera; not having bluetooth; etc etc. YOU DON'T GET THOSE FOR $50! You guys are STUPID not Nokia!
Anyway, I just love my Nokia 1110. ;P

well done nokia. by releasing this monochrome you have done the best thing. afterall most people want the basic phone. by having too many features, one can only boost that he owns a high tech phone but doesn't even use 20% of it's features and no wonder most of them do not know how to make use of it. phone should be a phone afterall with good reception and performance with long lasting battery. the advantage with monochrome is that one can view all the information on the screen even in the broad daylight and with sun glasses which is a negative point with colour screen phones. the battery life is also poor with these colour phones.
anyway i did buy one and find it wonderful with more than accetable clarity and fantastic battery life. it's pretty neat budget phone and more than enough for a day to day use.
