if this phone costs more than 30 pounds its not worth buying no matter how new it is hint to nokia if we wanted monochrome screens we would have all kept our 3310.

I think that many will agree with you: "phone's a phone, not a cam."
But, think of it this way: If in the old days manufacturers would have listened to the people we would still be riding horse carriages.
A phone is a cam - now. Not two years ago, but with the technology available now it is.
This will be the future of everyday-photography and multimedia.
Westerners tend to be against change much more than eastern cultures. Japan is implementing this new technology into their society TODAY.
Time to move on...

I think its a grate phone just for calling no multimedia. I would buy this phone but all depends on the price (i think is going to be high becouse is a new model). My opinion- if the phone is expensive nokia will not sell this phone in a high number.(white and black, no camera, small memory-no card,)

nokia in case you missed it, we're in the 21st century. people if you want a black and white display buy their older models, you'll be saving some anyway

i think this phones great simple to use it's for people who just want to call it has no silly cam and other stupid things that 60 percent of the country don't use anyway great work nokia keep the spirit alive a phones a phone not a cam thank you

Black and white displays are excellent for use in bright sunlight, so someone who works outdoors, say on a building-site would find it a plus.
Too many of these negative comments appear to be people assuming that everyone lives exactly life they do. If it doesn't suit you, go find a phone that does.

sorry but i have to personally disagree with PFM9 opinion. this fone is really suitable for me as my 2nd phone. when u work in a coal fired power plant, u really DONT WANT to bring along your coloured, wifi enabled 6280 or n70 kind of phone, u leave it in the office. dropped it once (14 meter high) and it still functioning well. good job nokia

this device will be sold in africa nad south america... huge market for ultra low end devices ... nokia is not stupid but clever!

to think nokia e num 1 company in mobile phone market will come out with such a lousy phone. what a joke, y not come out with a phone without display at all since there's no colour use in their screen. they still got e thinking that ppl will buy their monochrome display phone haahaahaa.

But the way I see it, In todays age..even a Basic phone should have Bluetooth, 265k color screen, MP3 ringtone (music player is not required), no camera is fine.
In the past we didn't have color screen or has 65k color screen coz we didnt know the technology. Now we know it..so why not have those.I would be surprised if SE or Samsung comes up with something like this really "low end" phone.

When SE, Samsung, Lg are busy coming up with new high end feature-rich models, Its interesting to see Nokia and Motorolla working on some low-end basic models as well. It makes sense though. That's how they are still number 1 n 2.You have to serve everyone.

To all those colour phone lover, not everyone like to use coloured phone...id use many Nokia mobiles, Motorolla, S.Ericson, 02, Samsung..but i prefer to use a Monochrome one...In some way a mono is better,it looks a bit different like z others. I prefer to use 5210, 1110, 1112..

Cheap phone...but many good functions, the only drawback is its not shock proof, the best cheap phone ever wiz shock proof is the 5210!!!

I have had several phones in the past, more than I can count on the one hand... So basing from experience this Phone is just perfect, I would not need too many features that i would end up not using anyways because it would just eat up battery life, All I need is the simple reliable phone! and this one fits the bill perfectly! I can't wait to get my hands on one!
