Eak, 16 May 2010Nokia Ovi Maps can work offline in 5230 also. Just disable ... moreYes mate i'm aware of that. But what i rally meant was that 5233 can also work offline without tge need for a data connection. Just countering the arguement made earlier that 5233 requires heavy data usage for map services. The point in having a dedicated gps is for network independent navigation. But though with the lack of gps, 5233 can also achieve this without a data connection. It just so happens that the positioning methods are quite different in the two and 5230 offers better accuracy and more dedicated features. The same nokia maps is loaded in 5233 as well. In addition, 5233 has support for bluetooth based positioning which means that it can share location information from a compatable gps device like 5230 via bluetooth. In effect, the gps of the other device acts as the gps receiver in this case allowing for more accuracy and better services by letting the other device do all the hard work.

Anonymous, 15 May 2010ok then in settings what is the use of internet settings wh... moreI dont know the case with 5230. But i bet you my reputation that my 5233 can work 100% offline without the need for a data connection. I have already transferred the map of India onto my phone using the ovi suite. So i can access the whole map of India offline without havin to download a single kb of data. And yes the data connection is only used to download map files and for syncing map data with your ovi account. Note that it is not mandatory for you to be logged in to access maps atleast in the case of 5233. In offline mode, the phone works without a data connection and uses the stored map files. Hope this clears things up...

kk, 15 May 2010wow! what a great phone.i never expected such a phone from ... moreThe world has changed a lot since Jan 2010... or Nov 2009 when Nuron was launched. Check out Samsung's Monte... There's a WinMo 6.5.3 phone with free voice nav in English and Hindi from Garmin Asus, 3.5" WVGA screen in 19k.

20k will fetch you far better than what it would have in Jan. Nuron was good in Jan, not now... Do you know N97 mini with full QWERTY, 5 MP autofocus camera is now in 19k.

LG Arena is 12k. Read about it in the conclusion part of Monte's review. You will realize there, that Nuron is not even in competition with it. Apart from Arena, there are scores of WinMo and Android phones to choose from in the same price.

For Nuron, the charm of a Symbian smart phone with free voice navigation is still there but the drawbacks are a lot and alternatives are tempting.

Anonymous, 15 May 2010well, i read that you can install an antivirus program on y... moreHey s0rry for hitching, but i want to clear s0mething.

S60v5 f0nes can install themes, games, apps, and other supp0rted stuffs outthere. Just be sure th0se stuffs that ur installing is c0mpatible. (For example, themes for 5230 sh0uld be .sis and n0t .thm)

Okay, for 3rd party apps? Ofc0urse u can install them. But s0me of 'em arent free just like adobe reader for example. But there are s0me that's free, but still u need to sign them so u can install it without any err0rs. U need to sign th0se 3rd party apps with ur IMEI number and etc.

N0w, about hacking? Its actually so helpful. U can install various supp0rted apps whether unsigned or n0t. There w0uldnt be any error msgs that u wil enc0unter, so it wil be hassle free. And aside fr0m that, u can cust0mize ur f0ne with it. U can change its f0nt, u can disable the camera's shutter sound, u can change b0otscreen, u can do other stuffs that an ordinary unhacked f0ne cant do.

Unfortunately, if there's an advantage, there is a disadvantage t0o. Bec0z ur f0ne is hacked and its hackable. Its pr0ne to viruses or malwares (if there's any). And u might erase s0me imp0rtant files that were hidden at first. Hacked f0n's hidden files are n0w exp0sed. So "do things with ur own risk" is str0ngly rec0mmended.

Hope this helps. For m0re info, try symbiantalk.net for querries and clarificati0ns on hacking. give ur f0ne a freed0m. Learn to enjoy. Ü

I have a question... I was planing to buy this phone, but I have to know something first... Can this mobile accept 3rd party apps? Can I install other themes and programs such as word or any document viewer, games, video players, internet browser and stuff like that? I read that this phone is hackable. Do i need to hack to install these things, because I don't want to do that :( my brother has a nokia symbian S60 and he can't install a simple theme, not to speak of any kind of program. What to do because I would really like to install a bunch of stuff XD sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm not a mobile know-it-all :)

Buddy, 15 May 2010You don't have to pay for GPS if u have an unlimited data p... moreBuddy you are partly wrong there. By network based positioning it simply means access to a network tower and not exactly data connectivity. Even 5233 with map files loaded onto the device from the computer can work offline without the need for internet connectivity. For google maps though, both 5230 and 5233 have the same data usage for downloading maps and other relavent information. Even 5230 is not a stand alone gps device. It still requires access to a network tower for locking it's position. That is why it is called assisted gps or a-gps. Stand alone gps comes only in premium devices with powerful hardware. In short, 5233 is almost the same as 5230 in terms of daa usage and both can work offline without internet connectivity but never without access to a network provider. The only advantage i see with 5230 is real time positioning with better accuracy and additional info like voice navigation and speed calculation.
