Hey guys! i just mailed to nokia yesterday!today they replied me.they r sayin that 5230 will b available within some days.as this mobile is under production....So, in my opinion,dnt go for 5233.just wait for a few tym.it will be available .THANKS:-)

Never ever imagined NOKIA would release such a smart phone at such affordable price..!!!! 3G rocks!!!!

Here is my review of Nokia 5230 of after about a week of usage.
I bought the phone for Rs 8200/- at Savitri Market Noida along with scratch guard (Rs. 200/-) and 4 Gb SanDisk SDHC card (Rs 500/-). It came with a plectrum and stylus both.
So far I am pretty happy with the phone as it does quite well what I require most i.e. making and receiving calls.
Though I occasionally used it for listening to radio and music as well. I am not an audiophile so I found the sound quality ok. I have tried the GPS function with voice guidance and it really 'rocked'. I got rather exited and today morning I tried while sitting in a manually driven rickshaw in Noida. Though the phone had to recalculate the route every now as the rickshaw puller used his one navigation system :-) . I have also discovered that a rickshaw travels at fairy respectable speed of 15 km/h. (Did you know that ?)
Here are the pro and cons according to me.
Pros
1. Fairly good sized screen.
2. Pretty ok touch screen response.
3. Quite cool GPS function.
4. Easy to type messages with QWERTY keyboard in landscape orientation.
5. Good battery life and fast charging.
Cons
1. Difficult to read display in daylight (for e.g. walking on road) but not in shade (for e.g. in car)
2. Slightly low speaker volume so I have to keep the volume at maximum.
3. Difficult to find free applications for Symbian S60v5 for e.g. pdf/ebook reader (I might be wrong about this. I love to know if there any available).
And finally thanks to all the nice folks on this forum who answered my questions as well as others for reviewing it.

atul, 11 Feb 2010Hi, farhan, emir and other people on this blog. friends aft... moreI would say dont buy that phone becouse u dont know is everything ok with the phone and will u be able to give it back on repair if something goes wrong! reason why u cant find 5230 in india is becouse nokia replaced it with 5233! thaths what some ppl say! i would say buy 5233 if u cant find 5230 and u dont need 3g speed or gps! i dont know...try searching little more maybe it is avilable in some stores or they will get them again (wich i doubt)! about corby...i would say no! go for this phone its amazing!

atul, 11 Feb 2010Hi, farhan, emir and other people on this blog. friends aft... moreHi Atul! i would really love to help and answer your questions about stores but i cant,simply becouse i dont live in india! when i bought 5230 in my country in nokia priority (original phone for my country with my language,original box and all stuff inside) i got warranty card (2 years) plus bill so u should get both! than in that store where "seller" try to sell u phone that someone already used before like new phone,that is not nokia priority becouse he or she would never be able to do that!...

Rajesh, 11 Feb 2010I want to buy a touchscreen with keypad set.is this suitabl... morehey rajesh ...you need not by this phone as it wont help ..If you are thinkin of buying the Nokia 5230 then you might as well buy the Nokia 5800 as it has videocalling as well and has an 8GB memory card as well.....Nokia 5800 is suppementry to Nokia 5230........

You should turn it ON only when you need it just like Bluetooth or FM Radio. You can turn it on when you need navigational help or want to trace your journey.

Hi, farhan, emir and other people on this blog. friends after reading ur reviews i wanted to buy nokia 5230 but i m not getting it in stores at present. i searched in few nokia prio, the mobile store, one mobile but its not der. by the way i stay in mumbai- kandivali. I hav few questions. 1. which stores r nokia priority as der r many with nokia written on board. how is THE MOBILE STORE with their attractive schemes. wht about ONE MOBILE shop. 2. what do u get on purchase of mobile as a warranty. is it warranty card or just bill? 3. after long search, in one nokia store he is having 5230 but saying its just used for 1 day by customer but wants to replace now. he is ready to give with bill and warranty & may be somewhat less price. but price is not the issue. should i take risk for it & take it. pls guide. 4. or should i take 5233 instead from THE MOBILE STORE as they r giving philips headphone free with it. mobile price 8000/- there. 5. OR should i opt for samsung star or corbys finally. PLS GUIDE. thanx in advance.

@SR, I have a question ... If I activate GPS, will it consume battery continually? If so, if wise to keep it turned off, only to turn on as & when needed? Thanx.

If you don't use Wifi and video calling then surely go for 5230. If you wnat Wifi and video calling go for 5800.
Although I have used 4 new pieces of 5800, I found same problem in all phones, Problem with screen display. when Startin up phone the display dances in colours and when some times the phone is unlocked and specially when you are using 64K old sim card.
It's a hardware failure which is fixed in 5230. I have tested 5230 and now am using this.
You dont get a 8GB memory card and data cable with 5230 thats it
