Rajdeep, 02 Feb 2010Nokia 5233 has hardware GPS built in. It does not have wifi... moreI thought you are using 5230. But you sure about the existence of GPS chip on 5233. Cause 5233's specification on Nokia's site doesn't say anything about GPS indicating it doesn't have it.
And the spec sheet says it has 3G (WCDMA 2100 - speed upto 384 kbps)

I have given the link for the official spec sheet on nokia.co.in You can see that there is no mention of GPS. And I'd advice you to ask your retailer about it before buying.

Hi ppl,
I Own Samsung STAR for last 7 months, recently i tried Nokia 5230 in a Nokia Gallery. Nokia has copied samsung star's model name (5230) to encash STAR's succeess, but after all a copy is a copy and this 1 is really BAD!!
* Touch responce is not as good as STAR
* Screen looks soooo dull
* Interchangable colourful back-cover (Copied frm Corby) look really HORRIBLE with a dusty plastic feel
* No widgets/ only 1 homescreen/ no photo contact browser / no tilt-to-slide gallery
* despite having a better ram and cpu, Nokia 5230 is a dull and slow thing in ur hands.
Ppl, think atleast 10 times before even thinking for Nokia 5230

Nokia 5233 has hardware GPS built in. It does not have wifi or 3G. This is confirmed as i am using the phone myself. So please dont worry. I confirm GPS existence on this phone.

friends i need your help. im totally confused between nokia 5230 and 5233. only about gps. some who claim that they have the fone say it has gps while as others say it doesnt have. i dont know whom to belive. please tell me honestly is 5233 having gps if yes is it same as 5230 i mean does it work with direct access to satellite without gprs or network. please be responsible in your replies so that others are not mislead. thank you.

HELSINKI: Nokia cut phone prices across its portfolio in late January, putting its cheapest smartphones on a collision course with mid-range phones
from rivals Samsung and Sony Ericsson.
Nokia said price changes were part of its normal, ongoing business. The world's top cellphone maker usually cuts prices across its portfolio a few times each year.
Several industry sources told Reuters Nokia had cut prices by up to 10 per cent. After the price cut Nokia's cheapest smartphone model, the 5230, retails for around 170 euros ($239) in Finland. The model's wholesale price is now below 120 euros.
Demand for cheaper smartphones has helped the segment grow despite the recession, defying the broader, weakerindustry trend. Sales jumped 30 per cent in the October-December quarter according to research firm Strategy Analytics.
Nokia said last week that revenue from smartphones jumped 26 per cent in the quarter from the previous quarter to 3.9 billion euros, helping power its overall result. The average wholesale price of its smartphones dipped to 186 euros from 190 euros in the third quarter.
The falling prices have hurt handset vendors like Sony Ericsson, who have focused on mid-range or feature phones, which often boast good cameras or music players but lack computer-like open operating systems.
These have been cheaper than smartphones, but the price difference is declining fast. "This latest round of price adjustments sees Nokia taking its low-cost Symbian devices into new territory," said Ben Wood, research director at CCS Insight, a British firm that tracks the wholesale prices of mobile phones
in Europe.
Nokia's price cuts come as the industry returns to growth following a grim 2009 marked by recession-hit consumer demand. Nokia says it expects the cellphone market to grow 10 per cent this year.

nokia user, 02 Feb 2010hi everyone.. actually i am using nokia 5320 express music ... morenokia user this is not xpressmusic phone becouse there is no xm series anymore! but IT IS music phone! this is multimedia phone first,for enjoying your musi and videos! now to answer your question,sound quality of this phone is splendid!! i haved 5130 and 6303 before and i cant compare them to this music animal! when u buy phone first throw away headphones that comes with the phone they are cheap and bad quality! and plug in your better quality headphones and u will enjoy! best quality sound in nokia touchs

I bought fo... moreYes i agree with you! it really is great for the price! i just say that in my country it is much expensive than in others,but nothing strange! every single phone here is much much more expensive! and i got 8gb microSD too! about connecting phone to pc using usb,dont worry phone should be on! just plug usb cable first in phone than in your pc thats all!

hi everyone.. actually i am using nokia 5320 express music for d past one yr n i hav no problem in this phone. it has good sound quality n overall satisfied my needs. now im interested in getting nokia 5230. i want to knw whether d sound quality is similar to tht of other express music handsets?? Can anyone tel me this so tht i can make up my mind.

Emir, 01 Feb 2010I didnt get usb cable too! just white headphones plectum an... moreIt is indeed a good phone for the price we pay. I bought for Rs.8200/= and an SD card of 8GB for Rs.1000/=. I got a carry pouch free from the shop. The box did not have the USB cable (not in the parts inside list too). It should have been part of the phone. A charger and head phone are included along with a very short catalogue and hanging tag. Now I have to buy one for connecting it to my PC. But is there any danger in connecting it to the PC when phone is ON?
