I beg to differ on your post(which is inaccurate)... moreTo convert videos to compatible formats you have to transfer videos into 5230 through the PC suite.
If you want a 3rd party app there are many available (you can google it). One that I can mention is 'Real Player' that has an option to convert videos. ( You can check it out here : http://download.cnet.com/RealPlayer/3000-2139_4-10255189.html )

Well I think, Nok5230 would be bett... morehi if u r a nokia 5230 user can u plzzzz tell me is the processing speed of this phone fast i mean all nokia phones which use symbion work slowly when compared to other compaditors like samsung etc i got this dout bcos i used many nokia n-series phones like n73 n81 i felt they r verry slow.though having a symbion phone is good bcose v can play wid them r we can get easyly bored wit other phones.so I HAV SOME QUESTIONS TO NOKIA 5230 USERS
1)IS THE PROCESSING SPEED OF THE PHONE SLOWER WHEN THE MEMORY IS ALMOST SHOWING FULL(i mean if i put a 4gb card and fill stuff up to 3.5gb)
2)IS THE SOUND CLARITY SOOOO BAD AS SOME PEOPLE COMMENT?(when compared to n73 or nokia 7210 or corby)
3)CONSIDERING UI AND Touch senstivity LIKE FACTORS WHICH IS GOOD NOKIA5230 OR CORBY.
4)IS INDIAN 5230 A QUAD BAND OR NOT.
LAS BUT NOT THE LEAST...............
WILL U PREFER THIS PHONE for a music lover like me and likes to carry many photos in cell and usually talks for atleast 2hrs a day on cell phone?????
plzzz help me bcos i want 2 buy a phone and really confused between nokia5230, samsung corby, samsung star wifi, and up comming corby wifi.
though 3g is not much helpful in india in near future IAM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD FOR A POST REGARDING MY QUIERY....

... moreI want to take the liberty of advising you to go for Nokia 5230. But before you take my advice I want to let you know that this is the Nokia 5230 forum so you'll have people advising you to go for or against it.
What you can do is find out your needs.
People make a fuss about One Touch. One touch to what???
A smart phone that has a lot to offer than a phone that has limited features. Samsung can afford a touch wiz interface as the icons involved are limited and can't be expanded like softwares of Nokia 5230. What makes sense is one touch access to multimedia features. But 5230 does gives you that with the dedicated button for Media above the display
Now Santosh the pros of 5230 has been mentioned many times over on this forum. Read more pages for them.
But my advice: go for Nokia 5230. It will last you longer than a non smart feature phone.

ppl who can wait , shud because nokia could come out with an intuitive touch interface based on widgets etc. read gsmarena. samsung and others have xcellent devices like the star having a 'single' touch interface. before buying it , goto a store and checkout the competition . they might not have 3g or bigscreen but will be very user friendly.

Think about what you get :

At least they have got a 2MP camera on board.
If you wish WiFi then there are other Nokia touch screen smart phones available: 5530 XM, 5800 XM, N97 mini, N97, X6. All comes with WiFi. ofcourse they are priced higher.
Its not that Nokia doesn't want its smart phone users to have a WiFi in their phone. Its just that they are giving a cost effective option to people who donot prefer a WiFi or doesn't want to pay much for a touch screen smart phone.

Specs look god! Ilast purchased N72 2 .5 yrs bak.
Absence of wi-fi is an issue. I wonder why's that not here with such a smart phone. Also, how Nokia chooses to provide between 2MP and 3.2 MP is hard to understand.
Any users feedback here?

There are others Star, Star 3G and Star Wifi
Not to mention price difference.
And 7.2 MBps is of no use since in India MTNL / BSNL are offering 3G with max 3.6 MBps only.
And dabba? Is it how you call a bar phone in Indian languages.

As it has such a wide screen it mush hav atleast 3.2 mp camera for better quality pictures n videos, 2mp is not satisfying.

Today there's surprisingly a new firmware for 5230. Yesterday I found only V11.0.079, but today it is updated to V12.0.089. Given the fact that 5230 has just been released, there are already 2 firmware updates. What's wrong with Nokia software development team?
