nk333, 31 Oct 2010Is there any software that will help in better management o... moreHi mate.. If you want to manage your music via PC then you can use windows mediaplayer. It's faster and all the music files get sorted and copied to the respective folders which is organised based on artist albums, etc. If you are not satisfied with the builtin music player, you can easily install 3rd party music players like ttpod and power mp3 player. I think ttpod has a better interface with a lot of personalisation like skin support just like in the pc version of winamp.

And BTW I always set my folder options to view hidden folders on my PC. The interesting bit is that the Back Up folder which is hidden is displayed while the folder for which the attributes have been set remains completely hidden. No one will even suspect there is a folder even if they were to get a hold of your memory card which BTW is a good thing if we just happened to loose our cellphone or if by chance it gets stolen.

Although i knew the fact that giving 'system folder' attribute to a certain folder make the images and videos inside invisible to the gallery, but when i tried back then, i got a system warning saying that its not possible to change the folder's attribute to that. So, i didn't even try continuing with it. But after reading your post i realised that i was trying to apply this attribute to an automatically created folder, hence the error. And i also didn't know the fact that a computer too can't detect the folder. But i do want to ask you, did the computer not detect the folder because of it's hidden attribute or did the computer not detect the file even though 'show hidden folders' option was marked in the folder management option in your pc.

SidewindeR, 31 Oct 2010Guys... finally I seem to have found a way to get rid of th... moresame thing i did before in my old sonyericsson phone . Using a java app Blue ftp, created a new folder in E: and files in it was not recognised by phone or media player. Another thing i did was just renamed a root folder in E path and it was invisible and only detected by that java app. Anyway it is a good news to hear that similar kind of things works with symbian phones also. I did not try it in 5233 yet. Thanks for the good news

Guys... finally I seem to have found a way to get rid of that annoying gallery issue. The current issue with the phone gallery is that it tends to search and display all the pics and videos from all the folders irresepctive of the path of the folder or whether it is a system file or not.
This can be a bit irritating when we dont want some files to be displayed in the main gallery but still it gets displayed and there ain't much you can do about it. I know that boys will be boys myself included and we all do have our little secrets that we don't want others to know about.

So back to my point. Almost all cfw come with file browser app preinstalled. All we have to do is goto file manager and create a folder lets say E:\Others\Personal Files. Now copy all your files to this folder and then open the file browser app. Under that goto the personal files folder and under file options select set attributes. Now under set attributes, turn the hidden files and system files option to 'on'. Now just save it and exit from the app.
Now you can do the same thing with automatically created folders like Images and Videos. It won't be displayed on the file manager but wont work with gallery as by default the gallery will scan these automatically generated folders whether it is set to hidden or system files. It doesn't matter. So just be careful with where you set your folder for this to actually work. The most notable thing here is that even if you connect your phone in mass storage mode to your PC, the folders wont be displayed as the folders are treated as system folders and will always remain hidden.
To access your files later on, just open the file browser app and you can directly open the folders without any hassles of any sort. And mind you that's the only way by which you can access these files. Or else you require a file browser similar to the preinstalled one like X-plore.

SidewindeR, 30 Oct 2010Oh thanks a lot mate for your valuable inputs... So I guess... moreI don't know the name of the shop. It's in "GCDA Shopping Complex"(Marine Drive, Menaka). Tell him to look for a shop facing the "Musical walkway".
Do check out other shops in that complex and also in "Penta Menaka" opposite to GCDA complex. Prices will vary form shop to shop and you may get a better deal elsewhere. Do keep in mind that the 1600 quoted was an year ago. So maybe it could be cheaper or even costlier as the shops are relatively small and they don't follow any permanent pricing pattern. Ohh and don't forget to bargain a bit. He said 1600 without bargaining. So some bargaining may reduce it further.

Looking at the way these guys are selling headphones for 2/3 of it's MRP(~1000 for 9700 and ~1600 for 9800) you might be able to get the 9850(provided it's available) for less than 3500. So if you can stretch it to that level then it's anyday better than going for another 9800.

So I guess it's better to stick with SHE9800 for the time being given my constrained budget right mate? Sound stage is very important for me now atleast after listening to my 9800 for a while. I just can't seem to get that refinement with any other earphones. 9700 is also a good earphone with better noise isolation than 9800 but the lack of sound stage is the only thing that I don't like about it. And btw 1600 is so damn cheap already. It would be a great help if you could give me the address of the shop from where it is available at that price. I have a friend living in palarivattom, so I can get it from the shop directly the next time I visit Ekm. Thanks once again mate..
