Hello guys, I am back again. Nice to know everybody of you flashing firmwares! Hope you enjoy your phone with new firmware.
Those who haven't done that, yeah, its easy. Follow what Arprit is saying. I too prefer NSS over JAF to change product code. NSS is simple to use.
I am just giving correct product codes here so you guys won't end up flashing wrong FW. And after changing product code, use Nokia Software Updater (NSU) only to upgrade FW. JAF and Phoenix are not recommended especially for newbies.
Original Product code of Black Nokia 5235 (Indian region only): 059B716
You have to change it to 0585713
Original Product code of White Nokia 5235 (Indian region only): 059B717
You have to change it to 0589750
Thats it! Once you change product code, NSU will detect new FW for your 5235 as v 21.0.004. Follow the on screen instructions and update. Mind that its really easy and you practically have to do nothing after you press update button on NSU. It does everything automatically and informs at the end that update is complete and you can disconnect phone.
After updating, don't forget to change back product code to that of original, so in case Nokia provide official update to 5235, you will still be able to do that.

nokia 5235 is good mobile phone.camara is good.
but ouside sound is low.

deepika, 13 Aug 2010can any one tell me what about the sound quality of this ph... moredeepika if u really want to buy a gud and touchy music device and have a budget of 10000 bucks ...go for 5530 express music .... It lacks 3g and gps but has wifi and dual speakers and also comes with the express music tag...it also sports better looks.....but if u want to choose b/w 5233 n 5235 .....5235 is better as it comes with 3g gps and gud set of earphones....but the loudspeaker quality is more or less the same in both the models...

First u shud have two softwares navifirm and nemesis service suite(or JAF but i prefer nss) and nokia software updater....
Then u have to use NSS to change the product code of ur nokia 5235 to that of nokia 5230 which corresponds to ur phone...for example product code of white nokia 5230 for white nokia 5235 ...... Then u can use nokia software updater to update ur phone....easy....eh???
U can google for the way to change product codes using nemesis service suite...

After getting firmware update of v20.xx.xxx, I got another firmware update from nokia yesterday, my current firmware version is 21.6.005.C01.01
And I got all these updates OVER THE AIR. Check for updates... I've got this second time....

i am trying to cook custom firmware for 5235 which will be based on v21 of 5230 and will have ovi contacts+sync, default bluetooth id, support recognization & camera exif file as 5235 (all in place of 5230), guitar rock tour game preinstalled.
changing exif file output details are difficult but not impossible..

arpit982, 12 Aug 2010who cares about the product code when nokia gives u 5230's ... moreno need to go to nokia care for flashing firmwares. you can do it sitting at home itself (provided you have net connectivity at decent speed). changing product code is as easy as hot swapping memory card.. database of product codes is available freely on many sites. nokia care is headach most of the time. advance user should do all this himself. i own 3 symbian phones and one android and i (and many of my friends) do flashing, modding all the time..

rahul, 12 Aug 2010i also updated my fw to v21 by changing the product code to... moreyou should have changed it to 0585713. the one you used is for blue-black version. checkout your themes. you might have loosed default striped themes. the correct product code of 5230 for black-black version (the one which corresponde to blak 5235) is 0585713. urging wrong product codes changes default theme and language pack.

i also updated my fw to v21 by changing the product code to 0594640 with nss & then nokia software updater
recognised the update.enjoying new features
