1. Screen size and resolution better in 5235.
2. Still shots better in HTC Smart as it has a 3 mpxl camera. Video capture much better in 5235.
3. 5235 has a more powerful processor therefore it will be faster.
4. Nokia Service centres are more numerous compared to HTC's.
5. Lastly, the price.
I am a 5235 user, therefore may not be entirely free from bias. Consider that too.

I have tried to upgrade through Nokia Software Updater today, but it said no upgrade over version V12.6.092 was available. (Interestingly, my 5235 was identified as 5230 by the nokia software updater.)
Over the air updation is ok if you have a good internet connection for it will involve about 100mb of download. However, even if the connection breaks midway, your phone will not be affected as the actual updation will only begin after the download has finished successfully.

When you hold phone in portrait, regular alphanumeric keypad will appear and when you hold it in horizontal landscap position, QWERTY keyboard will appear which makes typing easy. But as its a resistive touchscreen, sensitivity is just normal or bit better than normal mid range phones. If you want best in class and highly responsive touchscreen, then go for capacitive touch phones like Nokia X6 but they will cost much more than 5235.

Anybody nows how to update 5235 firmware over air... or is there any bad effect on mobile if I update its firmware when it will be available.

hey friends,
i am using nokia 5130, planing to buy a new fone. i am confused betw. 5235 & Nokia e63 ,i dont ever used touchscreen & qwerty fones before. Is typing sms/gtalk on nokia e63 will better than nokia 5235?
Is using touchscren will become irritating after some months of use? My deciding factors are ease of use, big display for internet n MM , availability of 3rd party apps/games , using gtalk n social networking sites.(wi/fi is not my priority)
Experts please give their opinions.

nid13, 14 Jul 2010i didn't find anything about applicationsWhat do you exactly mean by applications? Since both phones are powered by same OS that is Symbian S60v5, they will support same applications. All Nokia touch screen phones (except N900) supports same applications.

If your phone is becoming slow while memory card is inserted, then its a fault of memory card. In this case, memory card doesn't respond to phone properly. If you are facing this issue, you will also have to format memory card from PC and then you will have to change file system on it to FAT32 from FAT. Then your card will respond faster to phone. I recommend you that backup everything on both phone memory and memory card to PC using PC suite (connect phone using PC suite mode while doing this). Disconnect once done and then format memory card retaining FAT32 file system as told. For that, connect phone to PC using mass storage mode. Memory card will appear as external drive. Point mouse on it and right click and format. After that, format phone memory. Once done, reconnect phone now using PC suite mode. Run Nokia software updater. Reinstall software. Once done, restore that backup files on PC. Everything will work fine then.
