FIY, 5310 marks several records for Nokia......
5310 officially is Nokia's smallest phone ever at 44.8cm^3, beating the former champion 2630 by just 0.2cm^3.
it is also the first and only series40 UI based phone to have the universal 3.5mm.
Moreover, it is one of the best sounding series40-based phones ever along with its elder brother 5610 by the help of TI's DAC33 audio chip.
W610 and W880 get beaten this round. the 5310 is only less than 10% more expensive than W610 while offering far better display and audio performance and sporting 40% slimmer profile.
Also, 5310 is sold 20%+ cheaper than W880...but SE will do a twist in price between this duo next month.

Okay hear this: THE SPEAKER VOLUME OF THE NOKIA 5310 IS WEAK. That's one fact. Hold on to your money, wait for Nokia to come out with an upgrade on this one and for the price to drop further.

I ahve a 5310 xpressmusic phone... and this phone is great! there's really no regret about it! hearing music using the free headphone is great! so clear! the 2mega pix cam is great too, the cam is lousy because it's on the auto night mode! the quality of the image is clear... the bad thing about this that the loudspeaker is not that loud.. but the clarity of the music in loudspeaker is GREAT! if you're looking for clarity of music this is the right one for you!

I agree this phone is overpriced a lot, but just wait a few weeks because there's a serious price war coming which is very good news for us.
Sony Ericsson is going to dump the w880 real real cheap before Christmas. They want to get rid of all stocks before marketing it's replacement, the w890. Their plan is to dump w880 at a much lower price than the 5310! So just use your brain and a little patience and you'll see the 5310 price falling down sweetly. ;)

              @radioactive
w910i and w300i is the most bad se Wphone. i mean the sound quality (if vol set to max the sound do distorsion). i've test them. nokia say that this phone better sound quality than w910i i think that's right but, this phone will give up if compare with w800i or w900i.haha..
i think if nokia "give" contrast setting on s40 platform the battery of s40 phone will life longer.
try to imagine, this phone lcd 16M without contrast setting compare with this phone with contrast setting(set low contrast). i think second one will be winner. music phone no need best TFT colour.
i hope nokia hear it so they'll fix it.
anyway this phone is too expensive. without os, without 3G. i rather buy SE Wphone or moto ROKR phone.

I have been using this phone for say, 1 week now and there is no complaint to the battery - I am more of a business user with very heavy calling during the day and almost NIL music & FM usage - i guess that is where the battery compensates. The interface is Java, exactly like a Nokia 6300 or 6233 and sometimes a hook up to use as compared to a Symbian Phone. The slimness of the phone is actually commendable for being a handy and easily accessible phone. It's competitevly priced just a bar above the Nokia 6300 and I hear rumours of there being a Steel look being available in the same. Currently, the market has Red & Blue options which look similar to the 5300 twins series. Camera & Picture quality is pathetic but I think Nokia was not targetting that section of users which use more Camera Related features - instead they probably are looking at the "On-the-move" sort of people which like music & FM to pass time. Logically, if you recall the Nokia 5210 which is predecessor to this phone (the first phone with Rhythmic Backlight feature), this model carries on the legacy and probably come out with accessories like Strap On bands for the arms, wrist - for joggers etc.

FYI: in a review of SE W910i in mobile-review.com (in Russian, English translation coming soon) they say the sound quality of Nokia 5310 is better than that of w910i, which is double as expensive and is the latest top line from SE.

so actually how long is the battery life with moderate usage (15sms 10 min talking and an hour of music a day)?is it much better then nokia 6300??

shariyar, u shouldn't be upset, as this phone has an absolutely fantastic music player and battery life is long enough, even for ones very critical reviewers.
guess what, u can use 4 gb memory card if u think that 2gb memory card isn't enough, which comes with phone!
u only will be dissapointed if u r expecting a 3+ mp camera on this phone!

                                      Hi frinds,
Iam also Nokia lover and understand now nokia is going to new trends and that is slim and sleek sets its really appriciating but in other habd they are really screwing their product day by day, like ,no doubt they are introducing many new models but perfomance and metirial quailty is doing worst. I request to Nokia that don't let us go.
