This is the worst ever mobile from nokia.
I have always been a fan of SE. I just tried first time with 5800 from nokia and it is having the worst code in the world.
Also nokia care people is not able to analyze the problem and not helping.
Everyday I am checking for the new version of the firmware but still it is not and I need to bare the pain of spending so much for such a dump mobile.
I suggest not to buy this phone from nokia.

This phone has very high rating, how is that?! How is that when we know that this is the far worst Nokia ever made? Never was so many technical problems with a phone like wit this one. Look at the user opinions, complaint after complaint. Yet, Nokia sheep’s rate this phone high. Why is that? You have been brainwashed?

goodness people, this is our experience! count the number of people who posted about their nightmare about this phone (well others are enjoying their 5800 without problem). please at least try to understand

Parth, 02 Mar 2009Dude never get N96 it sucks I have one and its just soo s... moreThe Nokia N96 is not slow. I have one and it operates fine. Once you do a software update, it works fine. My issue with the N96 is the fact the battery is poor. Avoid all Nokia phones with a BL - 5F battery. This battery requires charging every two/three days. I know some people use a Nokia N95 8 gig battery in the Nokia N96. It is a tight fit though. I'm unsure what phone to get next. I will be getting my new phone in mid April. I am seriously considering the Nokia 5800 tube. I usually only purchase Nokia phones.

I would like to advise to all please think twice before buying NOKIA 5800 Express Music phone. I bought it on 26Th Dec.08 from APTEC Computer, Lamcy Plaza, Dubai. After 4 days it starts mall fuctioning and since then it was repaired 4 times for different problems like software problem, ON-OFF problem, Speaker problem and memory problem. I got my set back on 28th Feb.2009 after 2 months with faulty 8GB memory card. They said your memory is correpted and we have no warrenty for the external memory. I arruged a lot that it came along with your new set and since last two months it is lying with you for repair than how it is currepted by me. They did not replaced the memory and instead told to complain to NOKIA at # 80004449813 about this problem. We, APTEC Computer, Oud Metha, Near Lamcy Plaza, Al Safeenah Bldg.(authorized service center Nokia)are not responsible for the Micre SD 8GB memory. My Job # was 0143212. I sent emails to Nokia too for the problems in their set and request replacement but no satisfactory solution/reply. I spent lot of time and money in following the repair whereas it's price is also come down comparing to which I paid (AED1500) in Dec. 08.

BEWARE, 02 Mar 2009ALL NOKIA 5800 XPRESSMUSIC have factory defects as publishe... moreyes it does have a defect. but only one. you dont need to shout out this lame crap. the defect is a bad audio earpiece that can easily be repaired by yourself (just bend 4 metal little things as shown on the internet) or get your phone to nokia and they will do this for you FREE OF CHARGE. they made a mistake and they revealed this to the public. thats very good of them. the phones that have this problem are the ones manufactured BEFORE january 23rd. you can check your date of manufacture by calling nokia and telling them your imei. every phone manufactured before 23rd january 2009 has this defect and the earpiece will disable.

                              Oh and by the way,

I emailed Nokia Careline, 3x already and was promised by the rep that i will be called by the relevant department... i haven't received any call from them.

                              here is the exact message:

"You will be contacted by the relevant department shortly."

i really don't know how short is short in Nokia time and how long is long. Because as far as fixing my phone is concerned, it seems that 1 month of fixing the phone doesn't bother them at all.

I just hope that people from Nokia reads this for them to know how disappointed someone can be with the kind of service they provide.

Anonymous, 02 Mar 2009what seems to be the problem of your phone? Hi,

I bought my phone on January 21 (a blue 5800), it was working well until one day, February 4, it ran out of battery. When i charged it, it was not charging, you know the charging icon and the lights, it didn't come out. so i just thought that maybe the battery was just dead, so i waited. after 4 hours of charging and checking, nothing happened!

but it is alright, it is a brand new phone that comes with 12 month warranty from nokia! how convenient when i brought the phone to Nokia Care Center in Alabang Town Center (Philippines). I was told by the repreentative that i have to leave the phone with them to be fixed. So on February 5, 2009, Nokia Care Center took care of my woes.

February 22, 2009 i came back to ATC as i was called by the rep a day before that my phone was fixed. when i tried to turn it on, nothing happened! It was HORRIBLE! for 17 days! the phone was still in COMA!!! I was advised again by the rep to leave it with them.

It is already March 2 and my phone is still with Nokia Care Center! Imagine the horror of purchasing a defective phone that Nokia doesn't even consider replacing after almost a month of fixing!

GOODNESS!!! do they think that i should hold on to that crappy phone! Terrible Nokia experience! I used to love their phones but I swear i will never ever buy one Nokia product ever again! To think that my whole family is using this brand, i am so dissapointed with these people behind Nokia.

Avoid this phone at all cost! I will never stop from telling other people this! This is just a waste of money! and my time!!!

i got the phone about a week now and i think its fantastic, very user friendly and the 8gigs makes a huge difference!!! Although i feel the camera kinda sucks, i just expected a bit more, other than that its a fantastic piece of technology! If you looking for a new phone, i definatly recomend it.

Regarding the Apple Patents on iPhone, will that means we NOKIAN will never have Pinch, Spread and Flick Scroll on Nokia resistive touch ever? I know there is a new technology which can let resistive touch screen users do Pinch, Spread and Flick Scroll. Will Nokia not implement this in OS due to being sued by Apple?

iPhone have iPhone Dev Team whose Cydia and Installous can turn iPhone into an almost PERFECT phone. Drakkarious is a piece of software which can install unsigned softwares on Symbian.

Will we hack the N97 Firmaware in order to implement Multitouch(Pinch, Spread and Flick Scrolling) in Nokia Firmaware to turn N97 the ULTIMATE AND THE BEST EVER phone in the world?

If Not, at least implement multitouch in browser and photo viewing porgram!!!!!

If nokia won;t do it, it should be the work of Symbian Hacker!!!!

The main problem that many users complain about is the top right corner of the casing that tends to loosen up with time, and, supposedly, causes the earpiece to give up the ghost or, at very least start making creaking noises and spontaneously changing its volume while in a call.

Apparently, it stood to reason that we needed to investigate these two flaws as one, since a loose-fitting part of the casing probably made the earpiece slip several millimeters down from its original position. Skipping the details, I’d like to say that this approach has proven to be inadequate – these are two separate problems, because over the course of our experiments we ran into several phones that didn’t have any issues with their casings, however their earpieces were barely usable and vice versa.

The right corner of the phone tends to loosen up because of a slightly displaced screw. All in all, this design flaw is characteristic of most 5800 XM units. However, it’s rather an unpleasant feature, as the frame surrounding the earpiece doesn’t go anywhere, meaning that the abovementioned issue with the 5800’s casing has absolutely no effect on its earpiece performance (in that it doesn’t slip down or start to wobble in its slot).

With this in mind, we decided to focus on the problem with the 5800’s earpiece and here is what we have managed to find out.

                                        Nokia 5800’s earpiece
