First-run Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handsets have defective speakers!

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is now available in the US with North American 3G frequency support (read: AT&T (NYSE: T) 3G support)! Good news for Symbian touchscreen fans with an itch for all things music, to be sure, but there’s something you should know about early-production Nokia (NYSE: NOK) 5800 XpressMusic handsets. According to Nokia, all 5800 XpressMusic cellphones manufactured before February sport defective speakers that will fail after just a few months of use.
The problem, apparently, is rooted in a low-quality component supplier serving up sub-par speaker units to Nokia’s factories. The problem was quickly identified and Nokia moved to not only replace the defective speaker units, but also kicked the garbage-pushing component supplier to the curb. The move has payed off with high-quality speakers now being shipped with all Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handsets. It would stand to reason that the new Nokia 5800 XM NAM is free of the defects that plagued earlier European models.

Nice mobile phone touchscreen i get it 2 days now and i am inlove this is just the begin,iam using this phone with a 16 GB micro sd card more music and videoclips all works perfect...

Know why? Cause if that handset was made by SonyEricsson...expect harsh words from Eldar.

hey guys , those who own this phone- please visit www.mobile-review.com .these people have posted an article on the defective speaker of 5800 , which is being repaired by nokia. its a sort of recall for models sold before january. these units have speakers which are defective or can give trouble in near future! so please beware...

I myself tested it's battery life and it goes like this (this is for all you that have a poor brain) :1. if you listan to music,play games,use the camera and talk it will last no longer than max 2 days ( this is the life of all the phones,not just 5800, all the phones when you use it to much;2.if you use it moderate (like just talk,send sms,make a picture or two) it will last 3 days;and 3. if you just talk very rarely,send only sms,no use of camera,player or games...it will last 4 days...I MYSELF TESTED IT! so it's not just 5800 and his big screen that consumes the battery..any other phone on the market(big screen or small screen) if you use it in excess...all of them will have just 2 days of battery

It seems virtually all nokia 5800s made before february suffer from the earpiece problem. thats over a MILLION handsets. This phone is cheap plastic, poorly built with cheap parts. I have the nokia 5800 and shall never ever buy a nokia again. Pathetic Nokia!!
