It seems virtually all nokia 5800s made before february suffer from the earpiece problem. thats over a MILLION handsets. This phone is cheap plastic, poorly built with cheap parts. I have the nokia 5800 and shall never ever buy a nokia again. Pathetic Nokia!!

HOOUU!!! this is the first Nokia touchscreen in this time...and they know what they doing..iam very happy Yes we will see more pro fonctionnement in N97

This phone is amazing (feature-wise).
Pity I can only afford it on contract.
Almost all stock in SA is sold out. Very popular.
One question though.
I know you get a car holder for it, but could you use any other one that's physically compatible?
On a closing note: I wish to thank everyone on the site and comments for their input.
It's very good to hear both sides to the coin (so to speak).

this is an awesome phone and if any one is having problems with it they r just unlucky coz they have an exceptionally bad piece. i bought mine in january and t used to hang and change its colours for some reason so i changed its product key and got it updated. now it works like a charm. i really wanted to watch tv on it , i even downloaded vimio live tv but its too slow. any help pls

Gene_Pinoy, 27 Feb 2009No, don't buy this phone! Well it all depends on you. I bou... moresony is eve worse they refused to take the phone because it was bought from another country even tho it was the american version. so i ended up with a broken $500 phone on hand :(

My experience, like saudia's, will prove that this kind of things really happen. If you want to get involve, get yourself a 5800 and check it for yourself. If it works fine, then congratulations.

I meant not turning on and not charging. Avoid this phone at all cost! Nakakatrauma! Imagine getting a brand new phone and after 2 weeks sending it back for fixing! after 3 weeks still unfixed?!! Terrible!

No, don't buy this phone! Well it all depends on you. I bought this phone on the 3rd week of Jan. and i was just able to use it for 2 weeks because it is turning on and not charging. I sent it to Nokia Care Centre and for more than 3 weeks now, i hasn't been fixed. 3 long weeks! Imagine something like this happened to you and they don't offer you a replacement for your obviously defective phone, would that encourage you to get one knowing that i am not the only one who experience such thing?
The performance of the phone in those 2 weeks of use was fine, not great, but just fine. I was a Nokia until this happened to me. I live and breath Symbian S60 and i favor Nokia phones than any phones available in the market. But now, everything has changed. I'll definitely try Samsung or SE phones and will never consider getting another Nokia.

plzz tell me should i buy this fone coz i newer use touch phone, and i m thinking that screen could scrach when i tap from my finger or thumb? and plzz tell me 1 thing life of touch screen, like other fone like n 73, had good button and may b newer get any problem from 5years, and i seen it on mall, i like it but i afraid to spen 19000rs, on it coz of screen , reply,, RAj
