please any one tell me if the call colume problem is still happening to you or if it was fixed
cuz alot of comments say that they faced a problem with the ear piece

I bought this phone last week. The only problem i am facing is the problem with the headset. When i conncect my headset to the phone the microphone of my headset does not work....no one can hear my voice when i use the headset...i went to the nokia care and they had repaired it, but just after one day i am facing the same problem...i checked my headset by connecting it with another phone and found that the headphone is working....but the microphone of the headset does not work when i connect with my set.can anyone help me regarding this problem? what should i do????

You know, I am not a Anti-Nokia person. But Oh God! The 5800 is a complete piece of crap. I have a gap between front and middle cover just right of the secondary camera. Googled it, and found hundreds of users having same problem. Nokia should be indeed proud of their build quality! As a result when I try to operate in the upper part of the screen, a click sound is heard (tapping of the covers). Very annoying.
Thats not all, when calling anyone the earpiece volume just goes up and down and sometimes no sound. I mean WTF! Everyone buys a phone to talk right! I just cant make a call comfortably till today. Googled it again and found this is a more common problem. Haha! I will have to take it to Nokia Care. I just bought it today!!!!!

But indoors not so good. If you are really into cam i dont suggest to get this phone since it was not built for that, its really for music. Better yet go to the Nseries phones. And speaking of music, very good music quality, amazing clarity, especially if you are using a good headphone or earphone. I don't really listen much thru the speakers, but the clarity of sound from it is very good too. Really great for music lovers like me.

Come on man.... explore ur fone... get an internet connection....
PS: someone teach me how to start using the GPS thingy....pleaseee

NEXT DAY AT NOKIA SERVICE CENTER AFTER PURCHASE
CAUTION
Be alert and think and check all the funtion as miner u can test while buying Nokia-5800.
i purchsae on 21-1-09 for rs.19000 at Varanasi (UP) , India and on 22-1-09 i was at nokia service center for problem with 5800. it was not auto update date and time while restarting phone. servise center re install software but not change. now it is in repair or replacement process, what will happen god know no any confirm info. nokia marketed this phone in place of iphone but with out proper quality control. if any one want to see nokia care job report for this set i can reply, my e-mail id is manish_contact@yahoo.com

Does anyone know if it has tap screen to look at the time?
If the phone is key locked and you want to know the time, can you tap the screen to know the time? or the 5800 doesnt have this?

Iphone is better than the 5800 as looks and UI.
Actally the 5800 has alot of hype specially in the teenagers area but I think when people will finally see it's not a WoW phone they will say again that iphone is still the best,just wait 1-2 months and you will see.
Somehow if you can't live without bluetooth file transfert and java/flash animations take the 5800.
And NO the 5800 has not a better battery life,if you disable 3G on the Iphone you will get the same 2 days of battery

now in uae the firmware version is available, but i heard the update is makeing the phone wors and slow andlags wat shall id o , shall i upgrade or stay wiht version 10

I bought nokia 5800 on 6th jan,2009. But after a day or so there was a problem in the phone. While you are on a call the sound of the person ur talking to reduces so much that it barely becomes audible. I got the phone replaced by my dealer on 9th jan. The phone worked fine for 2 days, after which the same problem started. My friend bought the same phone with me on 6th jan and he is also facing the same problem. Is this a common problem with all nokia 5800's??? Is it a hardware or software problem??? Any one with a solution pl advice....

im planning to buy nokia 5800,im here in saudi arabia,but the 5800 here is all made in china.is there 5800 made in finland or hungary herein saudi arabia??tanx.
