Let me know how to fix this Volume going from LOw/Mid/High during Conversation. This is annoying i can't hear the other party. They could hear me through tho.

Hey i bought 5800 yesterday. One day playing with the phone and found out I'm having the changes in the volume while having conversation. Low/Mid/High. Signal bar seems to be moving around too at the same time.

I noticed that out of the box it was fine first, when i talked to ppl without charging the phone, i had no problem.. After i drained the whole battery i charged it fully at workplace. Rite after charging only this Low/Mid/High problem started.

Hope its a firmware problem, and could be fixed. If not these Nokia better check their phones before selling.

Bought it in Toronto. It's an Asian version. Blue in color.
    SoftVer V11.0.008.blue.01
    RM-356.

Other than the volume problem. I luv every feature it got and all WORKS Perfect. Web browsing on WLAN is faster than my previous N82,N78,N81,E66 on the same home Network. Video wide and cool. Music is LOUD as hell on spearker phone. Louder than my previous N82.
    NICE DESIGN.

Original_Jamaican, 03 Jan 2009I'm surprised to see you say the E71 is a mid-range phone. ... moreThe Australian version of the E71 comes with Quickoffice reader only, if you try to create new or edit you get directed to a purchase link.

Regarding SMS, Sharp phones back them up, Motorola phone's back them up, SonyEricsson phone's back them up, Sagem phones back them up even the iPhone back's them up.

It's not a Nokia exclusive feature I don't think any of the phone's I've owned have been unable to do this except for 15 years ago before there even was SMS or syncing with PC's.

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2009Dude, 5800xm isnt slow. I've seen videos + my friend actual... moreWell, i can't say you're right or wrong at this moment because i've tried 2 phones at 2 occasions and realised 1st phone was too slow in response and the other one was faster. Well, the only think i know was 1st phone has more files stored in it and the 2nd phone was brand new from the box. I wonder the firmware plays any role in this matter. Any answer is very much appreciated. Thanks :)
        Cheers..

Original_Jamaican, 03 Jan 2009I'm surprised to see you say the E71 is a mid-range phone. ... moreYes i agree your comments are unbiased and you shouldn't. I think we shouldn't be biased as we have no gain if any tel company is doing well. I really hoped to see more comments based on actual experienced. All comments in this forum are important to avoid others from making a wrong choice and helps others to decide which phone suits their life style best.

Original_Jamaican, 03 Jan 2009I'm surprised to see you say the E71 is a mid-range phone. ... moreBefore you say E71 is first for anything, i suggest you upgrade to E61i first. Office editing already available in this model. :)
Anyway, i agree E series is a different experience overall. I've used E61 then upgrade to E61i then N series' N82 for the xenon flash.
I still find E series is a special class phone by Nokia.
Till now i still not interested in Windows phone for one reason, there is no way we backup our sms to our pc but it's standard for Nokia phone as long as you get it connected to the pc quite.
            Cheers.

Recently it's launched in Malaysia and bundled with 1000 free songs download with T&C and it says see details inside. Wonder how we see inside a sealed box. Anyway my point is, Nokia actually expect all buyers to have either an internet access, pc or a 3G connection? And imagine the time required for downloading via 3G... Anyone thinks this is a good offer? Thanks.

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2009Dude, 5800xm isnt slow. I've seen videos + my friend actual... moreI'm surprised to see you say the E71 is a mid-range phone. Nokia totes it as it's best phone at the moment. In fact, the E71 has been awarded Phone of 2008 in just 5 months of release. Nokia's Europe site showed a special article on the E71 titled BEST OF TEST 2008.

Actually I'm not exactly comparing the E71 to 5800, and neither should you. Of course better audio quality is expected from 5800 as it's a music phone. Both phones are aimed at different market segments. Serious business class for E71 and music fanatics for 5800.

Earlier on in this forum somebody complained that the 5800 doesn't have office applications nor PDA progammes. That person misses the point of the positioning of these phones.

I've always said that the business class phones of Nokia were the most feature packed. The old 6230 is a fine example. Currently I'm using the E51 and I will upgrade to the E71 very soon.

The E71 have outstanding features and it's OBVIOUS Nokia is sending a statement to other manufacturers with the E71 alone. The E71 is the first phone I see with automatic spell-checker and spell checker on a whole. The E71 is the first phone I see with Automatic Word Completion. The Quick Office not only supports reading BUT editing of Word, Excel among other documents. It has a lot of coporate level features as well as built-in encrytion, built-in Advanced Call Management, built-in scanner among so much more. The top it off it has a Music Player and radio too...so there are no shortcomings other than the audio quality probably not being as great as the 5800.

If the E71 had a better audio quality than the 5800 then the 5800 wouldn't have deserved the Xpress Music title, simply as that.

A serious power user like me need the power of the E71 and many others feel the same...as survey shows, it's a mighty best-seller in just 5 months of release.

I suppose the 5800 will do what it was designed to do well, play and manage music. All you music lovers who wants the latest Xpress Music phone from Nokia, go for the 5800.

My comments are practical and unbiased. Thank you all for reading.

I got the Nokia 5800...after it was launched in India(3rd Jan)...was playing around with it for some time now...Its awesome..the touch is really superb compared to HTC models and other touch models i have seen...still Symbian has to go a long way to compete with Windows OS...still this phone is a marvelous product from Nokia..as long as it is affordable to common man in India..unlike other phones like Iphone, Omnia, Xperia...This is a gem for Indian market...software needed to be updated as there are still some bugs to be fixed...Nokia is way ahead compared to Samsung, Apple, Google, and LG...in look and feel iphone beats this set as it has got rich aluminum finish..but that make iphone heavier than nokia..will post you more update as i use more this device..

Why do they not sell the blue or black? The only color is red and the price is high. I think i will wait a few weeks when they drop the price.

Apart from the build materials n keypad, the 5800xm beats some of the other phones u mentioned. Things lyk better sound quality, bigger screen, lighter weight, stability, etc are better implemented in the 5800xm.
E71 and e66 are now midrange plus some of their features aint that impressive (bad 3.2mp camera).
E90 is in a class of its own coz even top notch phones have trouble competing wit it.

Anonymous, 28 Dec 2008well i was so happy and waiting the nokia symbain touch but... moreI'm not surprised to hear the 5800 is slow and the material feels inferior.

GSMArena stated in it's news that Nokia says the 5800 is a mid-range device...NOT high end...so my friend there's your answer.

The E71, E66 and E90 are all high end, very high end too, hence the reason for the stronger materials which is mainly metal and faster response time from these three E series phones.

Finally, the 5800 is not Nokia's first touch screen, the 6708 was.

I don't know how it was in v10 so can't really compare. What v11 seems to have done is reduce the over sensitivity of the accelerometer so that it no longer switches to landscape on a minor tilt.
