I bought a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone yesterday. Its amazing. I think it is one of the most complete phone. The touchscreen is very good and precise. I guess as good as iPhone. I bought it here in India for Rs. 19950/-
The music quality is good and the sound level is good. The screen clarity is amazing it feels like watching a TV.

I have been using this phone since 4 days. It is good. It can be bought at Nokia Store for Rs.19000 without headset. In Grey market it has now dropped to Rs.18000 because it is just launched. The ACTUAL price in other countries where it was launched in November is around Rs.17000/-

Original_Jamaican, 03 Jan 2009I'm surprised to see you say the E71 is a mid-range phone. ... moreI meant in terms of specifications it belongs to the midrange section. I agree that e71 is an excellent phone with quite some useful features. It does what it is meant to do especially for business concious people.
Im glad you want to upgrade to it, although i would consider getting the e90. Right now the price difference of both phones isnt so great plus you already have the fantastic lightweight e51 (unless you intend to sell it).

Vikas, 03 Jan 2009Hello Everyone ! Can anyone here please tell me what's t... moreHi Vikas,
THe price of this phone in India is somewhere between 19k - 21.8K
I am using this phone for a while now, and liking the touch, though there is little learning curve to it, since most of have seen/used iphones' gui in action.
                                    Dont get too critical.
The surprising part is that i gave it to my dad, and he was using i like a pro.

I've got it in red and I use a mac, so connectivity between the two is a bit annoying since I need plugins and stuff. I'm finding it doesn't connect well with the usb cable they provide, so I'm going to borrow my sister's bluetooth and try it later. I'm transferring files via a card reader right now.

It's not slow at all. the touch response is very fast, I can type with my thumb tips quickly using both hands in landscape mode (full QWERTY, not mini). I use the stylus a lot so i don't get the screen all oily. You don't even need to press hard, I just tap the screen. and i really like the orientation sensor, although it's a bit sensitive if I just tip it a little it'll change, however it changes quick so I don't find that it's a problem just to right the phone.

File management is very easy. I transfer files back and forth from the memory card and the phone. You can organise the menu items by dragging them around.

It's too bad that they only allow up to 4 shortcuts and/or quick contacts on the home screen and the media menu isn't customizable (at least not that I've found out how to, yet). and it is annoying that in order to remove my SIM I need to remove the back place, battery and push it out with the stylus (because it's under the metal plate there too).

the volume of the phone overall (ringing and playing music) is nice and loud (I love loud phones since I misplace mine all the time and need to call it).

the key guard switch at the side is easy to use and very useful.

camera quality is not superb but it will do. the way i see it, this is a cell phone first, and everything else is just secondary gimmicks. the camera has several picture mode settings: macro. portrait, landscape, sports, night, and night portrait. You can access the cam by pressing the shutter button on the side. I'm trying to figure out how to turn the damn clicking sound off but no luck so far.

there aren't aren't that many applications out for the 5800 yet and the few themes i found all had bugs in them, so i'm sticking to the original theme for now and there are a few free games with minor bugs (lag, scramble screen for a sec or two).

I couldn't decide what to use as shortcuts since all the features I would think of using are already easy to access. Press the shutter button for the camera, press the power button for Profiles, tap the date to get the calendar, tap top right corner for connectivity (wlan, usb, bluetooth, network, etc.) tap the clock for the alarm, media button has music, gallery, web, etc). I ended up putting messaging and the calculator. 2 free spaces.

I've used the iPhone before and it's really cool for games and other applications, but when it came down to typing on that thing I wanted to throw it against a wall. my hands are tiny and I couldn't do it. Also the package of the 5800 feels nicer in my hands than an iPhone. iPhone just seems so... flat and fat.

anyway, I love this phone. reception is awesome and so is the battery life. I hope what i wrote makes sense.
