i do not have this phone yet but i have been reading reviews and blogs.
as for the double touch on certain menu, it has its purpose - go find out yourself. nokia has spent tons of hrs to develop this new OS and f/w and you'd think they might have slip this. C'mon!!!!
for those who have this phone - how's the built? is it safe to buy the first batch? :)

Tanz, 09 Dec 2008my friend bought it 1 weeks back for $396 & i've spent a wh... moreThis phone is truly amazing! As people have been complaining about the touch screen, I personally find it 10folds better than any WinMo.
**TIP** Calibrate the screen after a soft-reset and DONT hard tap the 4 calibration points. Just a soft peck would do the job.
There are absolutely no cons in this phone, it's just a question of usability. People take your time to sink into the new UI of Symbian, you guys are so use to the regular interface via the keypad that the touch interface doesn't quite suit your fingers.
Please bear in mind S60 5th Edition is very new, and just like iPhone or Android, 3rd party developers will now have to re-develop their existing apps for the Touch UI of Symbian so give it a month.
N-Gage is promised to be provided for 5800 but is still under testing.
Camera and a lot many things will improve majorly as newer firmware upgrades come in soon.
Just like the N95 8GB which did not sell as expected had many problems such as speed, battery etc. Now its the most selling Nokia phone ever!
* Web Browsing is absolutely brilliant compared to any Touch screen phone + there's Flash Lite 3.1 pre-installed.
* Nokia Maps 2.0 Touch is a unique experience on its own
* The Image and Video library is very well organized and can flick through photo's like the iPhone.
So people stop complaining and use the phone thoroughly for a week, explore every feature of this phone before placing your positive or negatives comments.
ALAS STOP COMPARING EVERY DAMN TOUCH SCREEN PHONE WITH THE IPHONE.

its released in UAE with a price of 1499 AED which according to me is quite a cheap one.
in one word i can say GREAT MACHINE....
