Dan, 10 Oct 2008Then i guess n85 is for you. I agree with you that it is cu... more5800XM is the best all around phone it even has document viewer. carries the latest symbian OS and it more affordable.

sometimes it is really really hard to believe that this phone is cheap yet is has very very robust list of features. i agree with what mobile review wrote of this phone. Nokia is in a way cleaning the market with this phone. That not all touchscreen phones need to be on the high end side (read: expensive). We actually need to thank Nokia for what they are doing for us with this Phone. other manufacturers will think twice on their price since 5800XM came out, almost complete, almost perfect, yet with a cheap price tag.

this is my honest observation. there are people out there trying to discredit this phone. even if they havent touched this unit yet, they offer their 'expert' opinion of its weakness.

N85 lovers, you know what, there's also an 'opinion' section in N85. feel free to praise N85 to high heavens there and spare us of your mumbling. thanks in advance.

why are people comparing 5800 xpm to the n85? they're out of their mind.
the 5800 xpm is just a mid-range phone bcoz it belongs to the 5xxx series! duh.

why don't you just imagine combining the 5800 xpm and n85? maybe that's the future phone of nokia. LOL =P

I agree with you that it is currently nokia's all-in-one best phone. It doesnt seem to have any drawbacks and its slider construction is much better than n81 and n96. Youre right about everyone having their own personal taste and the n85 definitely has style going for it. You should get it.
But for me, i cant afford it. Thats why im going for this phone. Its the best value for money so far plus its within my budget. It doesnt seem to have any problems as well plus it takes care of my entertainment needs (music and video). It may not have the best camera, but its still got a pretty good one. For me, this is my entertainment package.

stop compairing n85 and 5800 they are same nokia phones they are unique in their own ways its on the users choice if they want dual slide or touchscreen. these two phones are great phones.

Actually, I dont really like touchscreen phones with no physical keypad hardware. They look so plain and blank. They're not stylish. My favorites are slide phones especially dual sliders like N85. Slide phones are great and very versatile. And for me, I'd go for the active matrix OLED screen rather than a high resolution touchscreen. U know OLED screen does not have backlight. The pixels themselves light up. So even in power saver mode, u still see the screen saver in total darkness. The screen is always "on" unless the screen displays a total black background. How are you supposed to play hardcore games with 5800? No mobile gaming can be better than a Gameboy/PSP-like gaming like N85 and the like. Another thing is, dual slider was pioneered by Nokia themselves. They did not copy it from anybody else. While 5800 is too iPhone-ish. And N85 is a "complete" phone. 5800 lacks the 5MP camera, FM transmitter, and Naviwheel which are present in N85. And N85 is really the evolution of Nokia's slider phones. It follows the design trend of N81 but more sophisticated becos of more rounded edges, better choice of materials, not cheap glossy plastic this time, smooth spring loaded sliding mechanism, and intelligently designed external media keys that change labels according to the purpose - in music mode the media keys light up the rewind/fforward/play/pause/ stop labels; in game mode media keys light up the two gaming buttons; and in gallery mode the media keys light up the slideshow play/pause/stop/zoom in/zoom out labels. Very nice! And one more thing, it's got USB charging. So N85 is so much better than 5800, at least for me.
